Bush Stands by Rejection of Kyoto Treaty
The rapture's gonna occur soon. Why should I give a shit about green house gas - G DUHbya

By JOHN HEILPRIN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - President Bush is holding fast to his rejection of mandatory curbs on greenhouse gases that are blamed for global warming, despite a fresh report from 300 scientists in the United States and seven other nations that shows Arctic temperatures are rising.

This week, a four-year study of the Arctic will document that the region is warming rapidly, affecting global climates.

Scientists project that industrial gases such as carbon dioxide will make the Arctic warmer still, which would raise the level of the seas and make the earth hotter. The world's atmosphere now includes about 380 parts per million of carbon dioxide, compared with 280 parts per million in 1800, according to scientists.

Russian President Vladimir Putin (news - web sites) signed the Kyoto international climate treaty last week, which puts it into effect early next year without U.S. participation. The treaty requires industrial nations to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases below 1990 levels.

39. Typical response from someone that never watched the actual hearings

Kerry voted against that particular resolution because some of the wording in it was not strict enough against China and other developing nations. Throwing a piece of legislation up and taking it out of context is typical.

Nice try.

bush says he still believes in god.
bush says he still believes that getting rich is more important than preserving the land
bush says he still wants scalia to be supreme court chieg
bush says he still can't work with democrats
bush says yada yada yada

This is not news. This is propoganda to demonstrate unswerving resolve. That, too, is not news.

I imagine we'll be getting a lot of 'not' news in the future.

28. Exactly, that's my new line from now on
Thanks to another DU member who originally said it, this is my new response for the next 4 yrs whenever anyone who voted for Bush complains about his screw-ups:

"Well, at least nobody got butt-fucked."

It's so versatile, see it's many uses:

"Agh, I can't believe how many hundreds of casualties we had in Fallujah. I thought Bush said the Iraqis would welcome us with flowers?"

Me: "Well, at least nobody got butt-fucked."

"Agh, we can't eat fish from lakes anymore, and our hunting land was clearcut. I thought Bush was for sportsmen and the environment?"

Me: "Well, at least nobody got butt-fucked."

"Agh, my job was just outsourced to India. I thought Bush said our economy was getting better?"

Me: "Well, at least nobody got butt-fucked."

I could go on for hrs with this, it's just that versatile.
