Arafat Has Liver Failure, Palestinian Official Says
RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian President Yasser Arafat (news - web sites) has liver failure and his condition is not improving at the French military hospital where he is being treated, a Palestinian official said on Sunday.

The official, who declined to be named, said Palestinian officials were considering moving Arafat to hospital in Cairo, from where he could be flown home more quickly if he died.

But he added that any decision to move him could be taken only by the Palestinian leadership.

2. Revealing quote
"...he added that any decision to move him could be taken only by the Palestinian leadership. "

His family has no say?

I think all the claims about Arafat's health are just spin. He's sick, but we may never know what he has. The politicians and factions are just spinning his illness, like they'll spin his apparently imminent death.

as his liver was working hard to get rid of the poison. It was more than the liver could handle.

5. It seems like every day the disease changes...
I have heard AIDS, Lukemia(sp), liver failure, blood diseases... The only thing we can belive from them as of now is that he is alive and sick, and I won't belive ANY news reports of his death untill one of them shows a body.

7. He and his wife haven't lived together in a long time
She's been in Paris, managing the millions (as much as a billion) of aid money they stole. Hopefully whatever new leadership emerges will have the stones to go after her.
