Ground Zero Suicide Caused By President Bush's Re-Election
A 25-year-old man from Georgia who was apparently distraught over President Bush's re-election shot and killed himself at ground zero. Andrew Veal's body was found Saturday morning inside the off-limits site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said.

Veal's mother said her son was upset about the result of the presidential election and had driven to New York, Gus Danese, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, told The New York Times in Sunday's editions.

Friends said Veal worked in a computer lab at the University of Georgia and was planning to marry.

"I'm absolutely sure it's a protest," Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told The Daily News. "I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic."

Police were investigating how Veal entered the former World Trade Center site, which is protected by high fences and owned by the Port Authority.

5. You may not be far off
This is one hell of a time in our nation now. I keep hoping that the citizens of our nation will get serious about involvement. One can argue that the computer age has divided and conquered us, but I feel no complacency or submission in myself.

14. I think you are right...WE HAVE TO GET OUR COUNTRY BACK!!!
and we can't wait until 2008. This country is in for some really bad times finance wise. I have a feeling that the other countries are going to financially pull out of America.

I wanted to stay home wednesday and duck and cover but John's concession speech got me out and up and i realized how incredibably proud I am of all of us for standing up to evil, none of us lost by doing so only, if we believe we lost which they will say, personally I'm rolling up my sleeves this is the beginning of a fight, out of the brokeness we will find a true spirit of love. This will be our revolution!!!

8. I saw this story posted yesterday and it was linked to fox news.
I was skeptical becasue coming from fox they are either trying to show how in shambles the democrats are or how crazy they are if they are going to kill themselves because of Bush.

Don't get me wrong. I am truly sorry for the man's decision and feel for his family but I am skeptical about underlying story this is trying to tell. The media is having so much fun discussing the state of the democratic party.

9. I don't care who is having fun. The symbolism in this is rich.
man from Diebolded state comes to OBL-ed place -to end the nonsense perpetrated by home grown terrorist in chief.
As for the state of the Dem party - suicide is better than assimilation.
That young man couldn't handle it, still is a better man that Frum&DLC/ and all advocates of self castration. What he did is definitely saner.

12. I agree. I was just pointing out it came from Fox news yesterday.

I agree with you 100%. Their slant is always to be suspect. While we are saddened for the man, how many freaking idiots are gloating? Republicans don't have any compassion or understanding. It came from fox news, that was my only point.

"worked in a computer lab"
"distraught over President Bush's re-election"

Let's check and see if he shot himself in the back of the head, shall we?
