Flush with victory, US Republicans show divisions
Looks like Arlen Specter has some more groveling to do if he wants to stay in the GOP.

http://www.turkishpress.com/news.asp?id=33125

< snip >

Specter "is a big-time problem" for pro-life conservatives according to James Dobson, chairman of an influential conservative Christian group called Focus on the Family.

Dobson, interviewed on ABC television, warned the White House that the Republicans must implement the conservative policies they have been advocating "or I believe they'll pay a price in the next election," he told ABC's "This Week."

< snip >

"We want to see the president implement the things that he ran on," he added. "And especially, especially putting conservative judges on the judiciary," which he described as "the key to everything."

Specter "is a problem, and he must be derailed," Dobson said.

1. Club for Growth has put a target on him
I saw a frontline special about club for growth and they make no bones about the fact that they want the moderates out of the party. Get with the program or get out. I think club for growth ran someone in the primary against Specter. I kind of feel sorry for him.

19. I saw that nut Stephen Moore that runs the Club for Growth as well
on NOW with Bill Moyers. He did say they where rino hunting and Arlen was at the top of the list. They did Twoomey against Spector in the primaries and he came with in a point or 2 of beating him. they also ran ads against Olympia snow of Maine and George Voinocich when they wouldnt vote for Bush's tax cuts.

Pretty freaking scary little expose wasn't it? Isn't McCain on their RHINO watch? They are the ones who want to take over the country. Surely you remember the anti Dean ad they ran. The one that hurled one insult after another. And they call themselves Christians? BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!

If Specter had any brains he would switch to our side, but I think this will be his last hurrah. Now we have to go after Santorum and if we can keep the momentum together, we just might do it. Dobson will ascend on PA in 06 like a swarm of locusts.

29. Hey, you can answer a question I just asked in another post
and that is what is Arlen's constituency. Is he going to piss off alot of people in his district if he switches parties or is it a pretty moderate part of PA and they would forgive him? I am sure it is a big district but do you know what a majority of constituents are?

53. Here's the big mistake in PA - some Dem fools backed Specter
He actually got a lot of party Dem endorsements here from local officials. And some unions backed him AFL-CIO, Teachers, etc.

Now they'll pay! Fools!

If we run a good candidate in '06 and if Ricky Santorum doesn't once more fool the voters by running ads that make him look centrist - we might have a shot.

35. If they can get away with hacked elections, they don't really
need moderates. All they need is to continue padding Republican registrations like they did with the college kids who didn't know they were signing applications to change their party affiliation. Then, all they have to do is tick off precinct by precinct Republican votes to match the number of registered Republicans for that precinct.

Very clever, actually. I wonder if they'll give Specter a gold watch?

sold his soul when he was a lawyer for the Warren Commission. We have been haunted by a "Specter" ever since. He knows too much to do anything but freeze in his steps when the Club for Growth comes after him.

He will "grow" all right, not "grow a pair." He castrated them and turned them over to the mafia running this country. They're probably in a jar next to JFK's brain.

18. You are wrong
All they have to do is put up a candidate to run against the GOPuke in the primary. The incumbent will break his knees trying to kiss their asses.

Bush HAS to deliver or they are done. If the fundies come to think they have been betrayed there is no bar to them forming their own party a la Perot. The GOPukes and the fundies know that would give Congress right back to the Dems so BushCo will do ANYTHING to keep that from happening.

Now we enter the real era of "whatever it takes" politics.

30. Pro-life GOP Christians believe that life begins at conception ...
Ends at birth, and begins again after the first $1 million is in the bank. They also support the war in Iraq (which has killed 1200 US service personnel and 100,000 Iraqis) and the death penalty. By their voting choices we can conclude too that they oppose health insurance/industry reforms that would save untold thousands of children and oldsters each year. Their voting choices also reveal that pro-life Christian voters are indeed against the stewardship of God's green earth as espoused by Jesus Christ. Environmental negligence is also killing untold thousands. Pro-life Christians aren't really pro-life. In fact, most aren't really Christians.

I am DemoTex, and I approved this message.

We promise to make fiscal responsibility (no budget deficits) a cornerstone of the new Democratic Party. You can continue to vote as you will on gun issues, labor issues, etc.

We promise if you become Democrats that while we cannot stop a primary opponent, we will not support them (in the primary contest).

The Religious Right is going to demand payback from President Bush, these people, this party no longer shares your values. Look at the fuss raised when Specter hinted that anti-choice justices would have a tough fight, they threatened to keep him from heading the Judiciary Committee.

Is anyone writing this down? Mid-term elections are 18 months away, and the fault lines are begging to be noticed between the fiscal conservatives and the Fundamentalist "Christians".

Marginalize and expose the extreme "Christian Right" for what it is. Hammer home stem cell research and all of the benefits it offers for everyday Americans. Expose the anti-choice crusade that they are launching.

Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves, but you must act quickly.

66. Christian Reconstructionists often hide....
Many on the Christian Right are unaware that they hold Reconstructionist ideas. Because as a theology it is controversial, even among evangelicals, many who are consciously influenced by it avoid the label. This furtiveness is not, however, as significant as the potency of the ideology itself. Generally, Reconstructionism seeks to replace democracy with a theocratic elite that would govern by imposing their interpretation of "Biblical Law." Reconstructionism would eliminate not only democracy but many of its manifestations, such as labor unions, civil rights laws, and public schools. Women would be generally relegated to hearth and home. Insufficiently Christian men would be denied citizenship, perhaps executed. So severe is this theocracy that it would extend capital punishment beyond such crimes as kidnapping, rape, and murder to include, among other things, blasphemy, heresy, adultery, and homosexuality.

www.publiceye.org/magazine/chrisre1.html

Many of the "values" crowd would really be shocked by what these guys believe. Even the Southern Baptists have been soft-pedaling "female submission"--they've got some strong women in the church.
