He throws the totally unsuitable CT up there (and I'm not even talking about his absurd views, just his lack of anything distinquishing on the court -- other than mediocrity) and then clears the way for Scalia, who is considered to be oh so very intelligent.
I just hope the Dems don't fall for it, and stay strong. Although Scalia is capable of writing a few intelligent-sounding paragraphs, his concept of the constitution is deeply flawed, and downright dangerous.

as CJ. But they probably realize that his performance has only highlighted what many thought before his confirmation: that he's a second-rate jurist, dedicated to some radical ideas about the constitution.
That said, we've got a president only too happy with second-rate, and intelligence isn't something he's qualified to judge. I think he'd be quite happy with CT.

reason this story is being floated. They know that many people disenfranchised at the polls. They throw out a bone, a consideration if you will that indicates some kind of progressive movement. I rather doubt he is interested. He rarely if ever asks a question during proceedings. On the other hand if what they are looking for is someone who will bend completely to their will maybe he is their pick. I bet they will go with Scalia.
