CIA working with FBI inside United States
KEVIN JOHNSON GANNETT NEWS SERVICE

WASHINGTON -- The CIA has assigned dozens of case officers and analysts to work with FBI agents in the United States in the most extensive deployment of intelligence officers on domestic soil in the spy agency's history.

Officials at both agencies say the move, which pairs CIA officers with FBI agents in the bureau's offices to assist with terror-related investigations, is the CIA's broadest association with federal law enforcement since the CIA was created after World War II.
The CIA was created to gather foreign intelligence and is prohibited by law from participating in intelligence-gathering operations against U.S. citizens. It also has no law enforcement powers. Intelligence and FBI officials said that the CIA officers are not involved in criminal investigations.

According to four intelligence and FBI officials familiar with the relationship, the CIA officers are providing the FBI with instant access to global databases to determine whether domestic terror suspects might have contacts with anti-U.S. organizations abroad.

FBI Raids Home Of Animal Rights Activists

POSTED: 10:07 am EST November 4, 2004

WEST PHILADELPHIA -- Animal rights activists tell NBC 10 that the FBI targeted their home last week.

Home Raided By FBI Agents

Armed anti-terrorism agents with the FBI's joint-terrorism task force raided the West Philadelphia home.

"I think that the agents with guns and dogs in a house for a group called Hugs for Puppies is pretty much overkill," said Kate Zaidan.

...

The activists said the raid is an example of abuses of the Patriot Act.

"Not only is it not okay to dissent, but it's not okay to live with or be friends with anybody that's dissenting either or you can expect armed government thugs to come in your house and take your stuff," said Fults.

The FBI in Chicago conducted this raid. A spokesperson would only tell NBC 10 that this is part of an ongoing investigation.

The activists in the home said they have hired civil rights attorneys.

8. Isn't the CIA operating in the US against the law?
I thought it was in the 1947 Act.

18. Do you have a link for that? If this is true then
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 07:13 PM by Carl Brennan
has the 1947 act been formally nullified. If not then the fascists are still in violation of that law.

PS. Look, I know that the CIA operates in this country. My point in asking this is clarify what the exact law is so that lawsuits can be filed.

13. Used to be. back when we were a "free" country...
I think the USA PATRIOT act removed that little stumbling block to Total Information Awareness...

And I'll bet the CIA has always operated here at home. Little operation in November, 1963 comes to mind...

14. So, who are they going after first? I doubt it will be the Jews this time
Probably start with dissenters, don't you think?

Can't have people around that are not buying into the fascist program now, can we?

16. My guess is that it will be DU and others. The internet is the
only free source of information. The major media are
lapdogs. They will have to crack down on the internet
to have total control of free speech.

17. Suggestion to help with the deficit
Let's face it, we know they are here to watch us. And we know they are spending huge amounts of money on the effort, in hotel bills and per diem.

And here we are, all our homes which were recently opened to moveon volunteers empty again ...

Wouldn't be better for everyone if we invited them to just stay with us in our houses? It would cost the government less, saving money for our kids, they could keep a better eye on us, maybe we could get them to even help a bit with baking the cookies for our meetings.

I can't help thinking this could be a win/win.

21. One CIA specialty is disinformation campaigns.
They especially like to plant stories in the foreign press to leak over into the American media. If they're working on the ground inside the US, we should expect lots of this. A good example might be the WMD story, which otherwise would seem to have involved an astounding amount of international "group think."
