Election stolen, group suspects
60 meet at UW, plan next steps

By Bill Dunn
November 8, 2004

American democracy: a shining city on a hill or gutter politics that steals votes and suppresses voter intent?

To about 60 people who gathered Saturday at the UW Humanities Building, it's more like the latter.

Sue West of Rockford, Ill., saw notice of the "No Stolen Elections" meeting on the Madison Area Peace Coalition's Web site. The meeting followed an anti-war rally that attracted 500 to 600 people to State Street and the Capitol.

"I think we need to protest this election no matter what Kerry does," said West, originally a Dennis Kucinich supporter. "I think it's fraud, pure and simple." <snip>

2. *LOVE* this quote from the un-named woman
in regards to lack of liberal leadership, "If it is to be, it is up to me."

That seems the intent of the members on DU.

5. How many people who either got fed up with, or COULD NOT STAND
in line for 5 to 10 hours just plain didn't get to vote?? If that isn't a form of disenfranchisement I don't know what is.

What in the hell would be wrong with people with birth dates that fall on even days voting on one day.... and persons with birth dates that fall on odd days to vote on another?

I mean if the system cannot handle the load... you need to break it down.. distribute it... I mean that is what intelligent folks do... ya know... folks with "values"... I honestly cannot believe that some people were forced to stand in line for upwards of ten friggin hours just to voice their opinions on which way this country needs to turn... absolutely unacceptable what transpired, absolutely unacceptable.

10. Expand Early Voting and ditch the touch-screens
One election result that nobody will contest on either side
is that voters LIKE early voting.

Touch-screen voting machines cause long lines, because you tie
up the machine during the entire process. Optical-scan is more
efficient, because the voter only needs the machine for a second
that it takes to scan the ballot. Many voters can be filling out
ballots at the same time.

The accessability argument for touch screens might have some validity
if the things weren't so hard to use, so assuming that those problems
get worked out, have a touch-screen available for those voters who want
to use it, and have it generate the same kind of ballot as the voters
who are filling them out by hand.

4. I'm Also from Rockford
Same as Sue, But our directions are obviously different.

My Letter to Mr. McAuliffe and the Democratic Party

I’m surprised once again of my ignorance in trusting the Democratic Party to do the right thing concerning the hopes and dreams of those who have supported you.
You have once again allowed them to steal an election in this country without so much as a whimper, You are part and parcel partners with the Republicans and their lies.
I will never under any circumstances vote for any member of your party again, Not President, Not Senator, Not even Dog catcher, You have betrayed our trust.

At least I know by voting third party my vote really does mean something, To you and the rest of the Democratic Party it means nothing.

Begin the healing ? Until every vote is counted ? I’ve got your back ?

No, No way, I will as a matter of fact work as hard against you and yours as I and millions of others have against the Neo-Con agenda which you now tell us to accept.
I know who and what you are now, As will anybody and everybody who speaks to me in the future, You are actually worse than them, Because it is obvious what they are.
It will start soon with an independent candidate for Mayor whom I fully intend to support against the present democratic mayor, Doug Scott.

The healing really does start now, With you and your corrupt party gone.
We know who you are now.

20. that article was crap
"The reasons are rooted in the fact that Kerry has much more allegiance to elite power in the U.S. than he has or ever will have to the millions of disenfranchised and unrepresented voters in this country."

Christ. May as well have slapped the elite Massachusetts liberal label on him as well. And they call him a prowar candidate?!

What the hell kind of journalism is that? They've been listening to Fox.
