1. WMD's
I don't care if they find any weapons anymore. It doesn't matter. They could find a ton of them and I wouldn't care.

Why?

Because he still LIED.

If Saddam had the capability to launch the attacks that Bush claimed why didn't he do it? He had the opportunity. We attacked a sovereign nation just to satisfy his pathetic daddy complex.

And yes, I'm tired and don't know what the heck I'm saying.

2. Someone should tell this guy the new "official story" about WMD...
... which is that the whole thing was a hoax concocted by Iraqi double agents to trick the US into invading Iraq. So he can stop pretending we're going to find anything.

I don't know how they explain that Chalabi idiot, though. Is he an agent of Saddam, too?

They won't find squat.
Why didn't they use them to defend their country? Why weren't all those bad WMD's used against us? And why haven't they been found? Why doesn't the media carry the story anymore?

24. As the post by "Reachout" pointed out, the US could care less

whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or a breaded chicken finger with "pow" written on it in ketchup.

The majority of the US affluent voting classes just want large numbers of "Ay-rabs" to suffer and die.

26. Of course they'll find them -- it's the new fall product!
They'll find the ones they've planted -- we should make sure that real inspectors like Scott Ritter get a look see _ Iraqi chemical and biological weapons were of an inferior grade, and didn't have a long shelf life. Stuff life this has unique chemical signatures.

Of course Rove figures that the strongest Democratic candidates have been given enough rope to hang themselves claiming no WMDs -- he thinks that by revealing them soon,he'll stop their forward momentum, making them look foolish and leave them sputtering -- that's why it's always been more important to emphasize the lack of imminent danger -- WMDs or not, Iraq clearly was no imminent danger to anyone; did not justify the enormous human, diplomatic and financial costs. I mean if Saddam Hussein had these weapons, and had the good judgment not to use them when cornered, I'd say it means he showed greater concern for human life than the Bushits who thought nothing of killing thousands of Iraqis with all manner of WMDs.

People on the left have to pre-empt this issue -- we should be out front saying, of course some WMDs will eventually be found, but that there mere existence isn't the relevant issue -- 'imminent danger' is what the premise that got us to war and no one could possibly believe that now.

Rove will probably leave the capture/killing of Hussein and/or bin Laden for Fall, 2004

39. I believe he's already given us a timetable for this announcement too
Remember his news conference a few weeks back? It's going to be, just by coincidence, right at the time of the first Dem primaries---wants the little bastards running around in disaray hours before the vote, I would expect. Sen. Rockefeller was in the background and was basically telling reporters (while camera was still rolling) that all this douche bag has are these zillion documents they found talking about "programs and Saddam's wish list of things he would like to have had developed". BUT I can guarantee you something. The idea will be to have the media hype this as "THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT BUSH WAS TALKING ABOUT??---WHAT LIAR SAYS IT WAS ABOUT ACTUAL WEAPONS AND NOT JUST PROGRAMS". Then they will do a bunch of snipits here and there of taped footage where Bush uses the word "programs" and then they want the people to go away and say "cool--that makes everying okay, dude". EXCEPT..it's way to late for that. The people don't care anymore; that won't bring them back to worship Bush. They are sick of this Iraq shit. They want out. They are tired of spending on it. And they don't like the economy. Georgie is a day late and billion nickels short (and counting) on this one.

51. Rumors are that Bush will have a "nugget" on his Sunday speech
Speculation is that he is going to announce the finding of WMD program in Iraq. Program is not the same as actual weapons. A child's crayon drawings of a mushroom cloud can be considered a WMD program.

Why is the US still refusing to allow the UN to send its inspectors to Iraq?

48. "September Surprise"
Great article by Bill Berkowitz in "Tom Paine" on this very subject -

Whatever they knew, the Directorate lies in shambles, which boosts the chances that Kay's search will prove fruitless. But fruitless isn't an acceptable answer for the White House - and anyone paying attention knows it. Conservative columnist Robert Novak recently indicated that Kay's upcoming report will aim to take the heat off the administration: "Former international weapons inspector David Kay... has privately reported successes that are planned to be revealed to the public in mid-September."

Pentagon officials are beginning to spread the word that Kay's team is prepared to claim that the Hussein regime purposefully "spread nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons plans and parts throughout the country to deceive the United Nations," according to The Boston Globe. Citing senior Bush administration and intelligence officials, the Globe predicts Kay will argue that after hoodwinking the U.N. inspectors, Hussein would quickly reassemble all the information and materials and "manufacture substantial quantities of deadly gases and germs."

After four months of intense searching, no hard evidence of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction has yet been found. And while David Kay's pre-war predictions about the existence of WMD now appear less reliable than the insights of Johnny Carson's Karnak the Magnificent, the Bush administration is counting on Kay to bring home the bacon. The loyal Mr. Kay, in turn, appears poised to hand in a report marked by speculation, innuendo and circumstantial evidence. Kay's September surprise: He morphs into a weapon of mass deception.
