Poll: European Support for U.S. Fading

Wed Sep 3,11:45 PM ET

By ROBERT WIELAARD, Associated Press Writer

BRUSSELS, Belgium - After the Iraq (news - web sites) war, support for U.S. global leadership has faded badly in European nations, most dramatically in Germany and France which strenuously opposed the war, according to a survey released Thursday.

President Bush's standing has just about evaporated in Germany where his approval rating is 16 percent — down from 36 percent in 2002 — and where public opinion increasingly questions American leadership, said the Trans-Atlantic Trends 2003 survey.

"The Germany that never sought to choose between Europe and the United States has now expressed an unambiguous preference for Europe," it said.

1. Whistle ass does not care about focus groups here
Why would he care about anything from some other country? He has made it a point to go it alone. He is asking the U.N. for support of his war and they won't send it, I wonder if he make s the connection between polls like this and his chance of getting help from the international community?

8. B... thought he could bully the...
rest of the world and it would be business as usual. Tragically, the good will the US had after 9-11 and been completely wiped out. I would have to think world opinion of the US is either at, or close to an all time low. Way to go, b...., keep up the good work...before long we might not even be able to buy a "coalition of the unusual".
