Activist Urging Sen. Clinton Presidential Bid
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1896&ncid=1896&e=5&u=/nm/20030904/us_nm/politics_clinton_dc_2

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (news - web sites) has said she is not interested in running for president in 2004, but a political activist from Florida has launched a campaign to draft the New York Democrat into the race.

snip

Kunst said Clinton got more than a 40 percent approval rating in presidential polls without even campaigning -- a figure that dwarfs the nine Democratic hopefuls.

"I see the Democratic convention next July in Boston as deadlocked. I see (presidential candidate and former Vermont Gov. Howard) Dean splitting the party asunder," Kunst said.

Aahhh Florida!

1. Just what we don't need
I wish these folks would stop living in fantasy land. She's not running. And I hope she doesn't.

3. She obviously has plenty of name recognition
This guy needs to calm down. Most of the population cannot name even one Democratic candidate, and if they can, it is most often Joe Lieberman.

What this guy does not take into account is the "mobilize the base" factor. Once the average voter actually starts to pay attention to the candidates, finally realizes that Lieberman is no good, and realizes Hillary is not running, the Dean base will have exploded.

And if Clark joins the Dean team, we will have the election in the bag.

4. Kunst is a Kook
I was one of those disenfranchised voters in Broward County, as many of you know (I was kept from voting, etc. etc.).

I even - immediately after the election - began hooking up with other locals pissed off, and that included Kunst.

When he said he was going to run for Governor I was excited.

But then I realized he was going off the deep end, so I stopped helping.

A year and a half later, I had moved back to PA and I ended up going to a dinner in DC with Gore and Kunst was outside protesting. Sigh.

He neglects to mention that while every poll with Hillary has her above the nine, she never comes in above Al Gore, who has actually gained on the nine and would wipe out the field by entering the race.

5. Bob Kunst
was interviewed on the Guy James show a few months ago, as I recall. I would hope that Hillary keeps her promise to the voters of NY state that she will complete her term as senator. We already have many good candidates running, and although I would hope she would run down the road, 2004 is not the year for her to do so.
