Kerry Picks Up More Votes As Canvasses Wrap Up
http://www.thenewmexicochannel.com/politics/3915991/detail.html

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Democrat John Kerry picked up more votes Friday as several New Mexico counties finished certifying the results of the Nov. 2 election, but it wasn't enough to overcome President George W. Bush's lead in the state.

(snip and a sniffle)

3. He didn't. I was there doing 'election protection'
In Alb. the signs were 8 or 10 to one for Kerry. Early voting was done on touchscreens (1/3 of voters), and the day before the election they were replaced by optical scanners. Still no official reason that I know of. The Governor, Richardson, is ex-Clinton cabinet member.

The next month or so will be interesting.

13. The scale of their lies produce shock - its by design
They lie big, and just keep getting away with it.

They know all about mind control.

20. Reality is stranger than fiction
I think Orwell couldn't even come close with his imagination to what is happening now.

If anyone has read "The Brethren" there are a lot of similarities to the masters of deception and control in office today.

32. I agree-Orwell is probably wondering why he did not think of the things
Rove puts into action. To displace his book by the Rove book of rules must have him turning in his grave.

30. Not optical scanners on Nov 2
Shoups: you press button to light it. A paper tape prints out when machine is closed. I know I was an election judge.
The touchscreen puters used during the early vote are highly questionable. There were lots of complaints.

2. Hogwash
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 09:48 PM by Carolab
Bush retains a lead of 6,120 votes in an Associated Press unofficial tally that did not include final numbers from a few counties.

How come there aren't final numbers "from a few counties"?

Do they have to "fix" them?

This is hogwash. We know they played with the numbers. Zogby had Kerry over Bush by 3.

9. less than 1%
Not sure what would trigger a recount, but by my calculations, 6000/740000 = 0.8%

14. No Automatic Recount
Howaver, any canidate can request one. But the canidate pays, unless it changes the outcome of the election.

7. How can NM have a Democratic Govenor
and then vote for a Republican President. This is not intended
to be critical --just answering the Question. Centrist Democrats
can appeal to the very same constituency as Republicans. Look
at Reid from Nevada. For example Richardson never fails to mention
importance of Dems being for taxcuts. This is the Group in House and Senate that Republican Presidents go to for support among Democrats.

8. You can have the people
vote fro a Dem. Govenor and Republican President. Expecially,
when the Democrat is a Centrist as Bil Richardson is. Nevada's Harry Reid(Leader to be in Senate) is a Centist Democrat Bush won Nevada. They
appeal to the same constituency.

10. We worked our asses off for John Kerry in NM
On the morning of November 3 I saw a sticker on the back of a jeep.

It read: "Hitler would have been a liberal"

As I shook my head in disbelief at a stoplight, the driver looked over and used *'s "one finger victory salute". He had seen my Kerry/Edwards sticker.

All I feel is grim determination these days... and now it seems we have turned into a sickly red state. There is nothing I wouldn't do to stop these monsters.

22. Hitler would have been a liberal

Yea, had his name been Franklin D. Roosevelt...Otherwise, he was just another stinking right-wing Conservative who

1) Faned the flames of the anti-this, anti-that
2) Was anti-Socialistic
3) Was militaristic (deified the military)
4) Was jingoistic and nationalistic

Spare me with the "German National Socialist Party" crap, because if NSDAP had really been "Socialist" then why did a "Socialist Party" exist at the time? And further were one of the first groups tossed into camps?

Hitler a Liberal? What a boatload of ignorant bunk.

23. I am afraid that "early" voting was a problem for us..
What a delicious way to do it.. Hundreds of thousands of people chomping at the bit to vote against Bush.. "Invite" them to vote early...sequester their vaporvotes...exit polls show that they overwhelmingly voted for Kerry...

Those are "rabble-rousers" who won't have to be "dealt with" on election day..and there will be no way for them to even know if their early votes were ever counted..

They placated the eearly voters..that's it..

In FL, the early voting (almost a THIRD of the total voter base) favored Kerry by 30%...

we "tipped our hand" by voting early.. repubes read polls too :(

24. About the exit polling...
what time of day did that stop? the early exit polls seem to show Kerry with big margins in some places, in places where he ultimately lost. Did the exit polling actually change over the course of the day (and I'm not talking about the networks' "adjustment" of numbers, but of actual exit polls) or did the exit polling cease in, say, early afternoon, and only after it ceased did the vote totals start shifting?

25. I believe it was around 5:30 pm EST..but some articles have said 7:30
time zones may have aggravated the problem..

5:30 eastern is mid afternoon here in the west.

Polling...ALL polling should be illegal..

Let the people decide on their own..

Exit polling might be ok, but the people doing it, should have their data locked up until AFTER all the votes are counted.. Even Hawaii..even the provisional..

If exit polling is useful, it's as a "proof" that the vote-count was reasonable

26. Of course early voter exit polls favor Kerry
That's when all the welfare queens are voting. The "real 'murikins" have jobs, so they vote late. And their votes count.

<sarcasm off>
