Extended ex-envoy arrest in UK "destructive" - Iran

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's foreign minister told his British counterpart the continued detention in Britain of a former Iranian ambassador would have a "very destructive influence" on ties, the official IRNA news agency reported on Friday.
Hadi Soleimanpour, 47, was arrested in Britain last month at Argentina's request in connection with the 1994 bombing of a Jewish centre in Buenos Aires that killed 85. He has been denied bail twice.

"The continuation of his arrest will have a very destructive influence on the relations between the two countries," Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi was quoted as telling Britain's Jack Straw.

"The Iranian government is very sensitive about the fate of its citizens and is very serious in supporting them." ..>>
