Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi says would choose terrorism over tyranny
http://famulus.msnbc.com/FamulusIntl/reuters09-04-085313.asp?reg=EUROPE

ROME, Sept. 4 — Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi loves liberty so much he would consider becoming a ''terrorist'' if he lived in an undemocratic state, he said in an interview published on Thursday.

The Italian leader, at the helm of the European Union for six months, argued in a wide-ranging talk with British magazine The Spectator that democracies had the duty and power to root out tyranny, and should do so by force if necessary.

''If I lived in a country where there was no day appointed for elections, I would become a revolutionary, if not a terrorist. And that is because I love liberty too much,'' Berlusconi said in the interview, which was also published in Italian newspaper La Voce di Rimini.

''Today we are able, with Russia and America together, to look at all the states of the world... and we can give them democracy and liberty. Yes, by force if necessary because that is the only way to show it is not a joke,'' he said.

3. Doublespeak
At he same time he questions the independece of the judiciary. Actually one might think that he's talking about the tyranny of free courts and indepentent judges.

He is using the US and Russia as models for coerced democracy there does seem to be some difference in definition content typical more of counter intuitive affirmations or plain old lying.

11. When I've taken trains in Italy, they've been on time, and

they don't waste any time standing in the station, either, so you have to get on the train, no dawdling around. Nice trains, too, but get reserved seats or you can find yourself standing if the train's crowded. Wish we had nice trains all over the U.S. again.

10. Was this interview part of his tour...
...to promote his new record? Now that Berlu is temporary president of the European Union, he's decided to return to his first vocation--crooner. Anybody heard his CD?

I haven't seen any Italian forces committed to bringing Democracy to the poor and oppressed masses of the world. How come he hasn't sent a couple of divisions to Iraq to help out his little buddy?
