U.S. Troops Want Rumsfeld to Send Them Home

TIKRIT, Iraq (Reuters) - If they had the chance, U.S. soldiers at a base in Iraq would have had one question for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld: When are we going home?

But Rumsfeld canceled a speech he was due to give on Friday to the troops at their base at the palace of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in his hometown of Tikrit.

"I don't give a damn about Rumsfeld. All I give a damn about is going home," Specialist Rue Gretton said, humping packs of water bottles on his shoulders from a truck.

"The only thing his visit meant for us was we had to clean up a lot of mess to make the place look pretty. And he didn't even look at it anyway," Gretton said after soldiers swept the dusty streets around the complex of lakes and mansions.

1. This is just not right
The Neo-cons are pulling out all stops in this Rumsfeld ploy to try and save the sinking Iraq occupation. As the GIs make everything spotless for the Sheriff of Nautingham can TV-media propoganda get any more obvious?

3. I sure hope they count all military ballots in 2004!
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 11:16 AM by denverbill
Remember how they even took those with no date and those that weren't notarized in 2000 in Florida? I wonder how many from Iraq will be dumped in the trash in 2004?

4. Expect Specialist Rue Gretton to get an extended stay in Iraq for
his remarks, or he'll go home in a body bag. Rumsfeld is probably being kept a safe distance away from the depleted uranium and had to cancel his speech because it was "too risky" for the chickenhawk.

5. quite the opposite from last night's news....
saw a reporter from Baghdad, can't remember which channel, he said some of the soldiers were feeling a lot better after seeing rummy! Just seeing him made them all warm and fuzzy?!? What tripe...

7. Rummy is there
to generate, pure 100% propaganda for use at home. He has already shown he doesn't give a rip about the troops. (Casualties/deaths) are statistically insignificant?)

What do you want to bet:

Tonight's news will feature an interview with Rummy saying how much better things are in Iraq and we shouldn't believe all the naysayers.

This guy really pisses me off..........

6. You will go home when ordered to go home, troops.
This is Warfare in the 21st Century, part of the Revolution in Military Affairs and Revolution in Political and Military Affairs.

So stay frosty until your orders to come home are issued.

You may want to study these concepts until then. They are the Reichmarshall's neocon conceptual framework for you and your teammates. You are an army of one.

14. Canceled Speech is Interesting
These scum only give speeches before vetted, friendly audiences. They can't risk having von Dumbsfeld being booed by OUr Brave Men And Women In Uniform. Wouldn't look good on the evening news.

Come to think of it even Former Governor Bush has stopped appearing before military audiences. Pretty soon the only people he can safely give a speech to will be Fox "News" talking heads.

17. More arrests on the way for our troops
Perhaps a little good old fashioned military intimidation and Article 15s.

Poor soldiers. They are lead, as are well all here in the Empire, by monsters.

And the Imperial Subjects of Amerika are the MOST contemtible generation of Americans, I think, in the 225 years of the Old Democratic Republic and the 3 years of Imperial Transition.

To be quite honest, the vast bulk of the Imperial Subjects of Amerika absolutely deserve the Neo-"Free Market"-Stalinist Orwellian Totalitarian Oligarchic Empire they are ceding to their wretched grandchildren.

And of course, those soldiers will be feeling the heavy hand of the Busheviks a bit more closely soon.

20. Oh yeah can't you just see how happy they are with Rummy!
When the Armed Forces Network showed earlier footage of Rumsfeld saying that fresh U.S. troops were unnecessary in Iraq, soldiers at the base threw their hands in the air and shouted "No way" at the television.

"I ain't happy. No way am I happy seeing that," said Specialist Devon Pierce, whose wife was due to give birth to his first son in two weeks. "This tour is hard, real hard. It's too much. It should be six months."

22. Griping soldiers. So what's new..
The coffee that they give us,
They say is mighty fine,
It's good for cuts and bruises
And tastes like iodine.

cho: I don't want no more of army life,
Gee, ma, I want to go home

The biscuits that they give us,
They say are mighty fine,
One fell off a table
And killed a pal of mine.

The clothes that they give us,
They say are mighty fine,
Me and my buddy,
Can both fit into mine.

They treat us all like monkeys
And make us stand in line,
They give you fifty dollars a month
And take back forty-nine.

The girls at the service club
They say are mighty fine,
Most are over eighty
And the rest are under nine.

23. I don't believe they're complaining about the food and coffee...
The point is that Iraqi Invasion proponents keep telling America that all our service people over there are happy and proud to be there and everything's coming up roses.

International news sources seem to refute those claims while American news tries to minimize it and the Bush Administration blatantly lies about it.

Sigh.
