Ian Rimell, 53, a father of three, was shot dead Thursday as he was travelling in a vehicle along a main road towards Mosul city, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) said in a statement sent to AFP on Friday.
An Iraqi colleague, Salem Ahmed Mohammed, was wounded in the late afternoon attack, the organisation said, adding that he was in critical condition.
"Mr Rimell and Mr Ahmed Mohammed were on their way home from work, in a vehicle with the distinctive MAG emblem, when they were attacked," the charity said. "MAG does not know who was responsible for the attack."
