1. wonder if it had anything to do with this
http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/2002/world/w104092003.html

"There was debris blown everywhere," said Raad Majid, 27, whose arm was bandaged. He said he was about 30 yards away when the blast occurred. Two fire engines and several ambulances rushed to the scene of the explosion as U.S. military police cordoned off the area and a helicopter gunship circled the complex.POLICE CHIEF SEEN AS TARGET

The explosion damaged the office of the U.S.-appointed Baghdad police chief, Hassan al-Obeidi, who was not in the complex at the time of the attack, Iraqi police said.

Brig. Saeed Muneim said al-Obeidi was probably the target of the blast.

The police chief is closely associated with the U.S.-led occupation authority, especially former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who put al-Obeidi in his position. Kerik has been in Iraq to rebuild the country’s police force.

5. probably shit his pants
when the blast went off - said to himself "self, they might kill me here - I don't have to do this. I'm not some enlisted person - they don't pay me enough to get killed! I should not be here. Too bad those other fellows are going to be the target of the "bring 'em on" thing that the head dufus spouted"

The new Iraqi police recruits were shown off on tv last night. Kerik will probably say his job is done there and the murkins will belive it.

8. I really think we are giving it back to the Shiites
We have a Shiite leader in now who was, until last week, part of the US led coalition/Iraq governing power structure. Sure he has made claims for the US to leave but it was probably just PR and it is not just a coincidence that the same day he took over as leader of the Shiite party militia groups were allowed to carry AKs in public and come down on the Sunis.

Nope all Bush and Rummy want is producing oil wells and the freedom to have a security force that is above any international laws.

Top U.S. security adviser in Iraq returns home; deputy to fill in

By Pauline Jelinek, Associated Press, 9/5/2003 16:50

WASHINGTON (AP)- The Bush administration's top security adviser in Iraq has completed his stint and is returning to the United States, the Pentagon said Friday.

The work of Bernard Kerik will be done by his deputies until a replacement is named, defense officials said on condition of anonymity.

They did not say when he left. Officials said Nori al-Badran, sworn in Wednesday as interior minister by Iraq's interim Governing Council, will handle day-to-day security issues as the occupation force seeks to put more responsibility for Iraq into Iraqi hands.

Kerik's departure comes amid severe security problems in Iraq. Coalition forces face continuing attacks by remnants of deposed President Saddam Hussein's government as they try to restore basic services, restart the economy and form a homegrown government.

16. Kerik's an asshole
He was an asshole when he ran Riker's, and he was an asshole when he ran the NYPD. The near endless 9/11 puff pieces on him have done little to change my opinion of the man.

That said, he did get Riker's cleaned up. When he brought the same principles to the NYPD, he produced an incredible appearance of efficiency and fair-dealing, while playing on the most vicious race-baiting the City of New York had seen in quite some time.

It is probably time for kerik to join Rudolph Giuliani's disreputable consulting firm, soak up some lecture circuit money on the blood of his 9/11 fame, and shuffle off to some warmer clime for Mojitos and early bird specials....
