Hi, LBN posters! Please include some text when posting news links...
for those on dial-up, so they know something about a link before the long wait to access it, and for others who make it a policy not to register at news sites. By DU rules, you can include up to four paragraphs. Thanks all for posting, and for the wealth of important information you bring to LBN!

4. Thanks -- and please forgive my rule-breaking --
I'm temporarily on an antiquated dial-up and accessing articles very slowly, and some not at all!

16. bugmenot
To bypass registration restricted sites, use http://www.bugmenot.com

It works qwuite well and you don't have to give any personal info.

6. Thanks
But this needs to be the rule on all forums.
The hit&run artists that put a self-worded title in the subject line and and nothing but a URL in the message need to be educated.

10. And for those who, like me, hate registering at news (or any) sites,
bugmenot is your friend.

http://bugmenot.com

(And I love the name of their hosting site: nearlyfreespeech.net)

11. I'm on a cable hookup but I still agree.
I try to read the article before I participate in a discussion but there are plenty of times that I don't have time for that but would still like to know the gist of the article. Thanks for reminder!

12. Thanks, Modem Mom.
I, too, am on dial-up and have to be choosy about the links I click on. Some take a looong time to load.

13. Kick Kick Kick
Even if you have a cable modem, the point of having a news forum is so that you DON'T have to go to the other sites to get the news you want.

This really should be a standing rule like someone else suggested.

Mods? Any chance of getting this adopted into policy?

14. kicking for more exposure
:kick:

"just a link" posting is rather annoying - especially for heavily graphic-ed sites that take forever to load.
