No need for aid, say marines
No need for aid, say marines
From correspondents in Fallujah
November 15, 2004

The US military says it sees no need for the Iraqi Red Crescent to deliver aid to people inside Fallujah, and does not think any Iraqi civilians are trapped inside the city.

"There is no need to bring (Red Crescent) supplies in because we have supplies of our own for the people," said US Marine Colonel Mike Shupp.

"Now that the bridge (into Fallujah) is open I will bring out casualties and all aid work can be done here (at Fallujah's hospital)."

He said he had not heard of any Iraqi civilians being trapped inside the city and did not think that was the case.

Let's make a list.
When we finally come to power, we'll have a purge.

Let's not be that which we condemn.

Yes, I did go to Rutgers University.
No, I am not one of "them".

Is this what you normally do when people disagree?
Would you like to see my papers?

I simply disagree with the idea of rooting for State Sponsored "lethal injection".
But hey, to each his own.

7. WHAT the hell???
This just gets worse and worse. First I read that as many as 100,000 Iraqis didn't get out of Fallujah or weren't able to get out.

Then I read about the bombs.

Then I read about how aid can't get to the civilians caught in the city with no running water, etc.

Now I read that the Marines say "no need, everything's fine here! Nothing to see, go on home with your aid stuff."

WTF?

Can I assume it's because there is no one left alive to give aid TO?

Everytime I think I can't get any sadder or more depressed or ashamed over this war, I find out I can.

18. Going house to house to murder all the eyewitnesses?
Give the "troops" time to dispose of all their target practice in mass graves.

Oh right -- Support the Troops -- NOT!

Individuals who can prove that they didn't slaughter Iraqis -- but not the Troops as a group.

Support the Troops = support bush -- and I will never support that serial murderer bush.

The "troops" involved in this mass murder have crossed over the line -- when people become desensitized to the slaughter of other human beings they are no longer fit to live in a civilized world. These poor bastards need some time somewhere -- but not where they can come home beat their kids and wife and all the other hell that they will put their families though.

(I am not sure if America -- the red states and the bush supporters -- can be classified as "civilized"? I'm not forgetting the blue dots in the Red States and the red dots in the Blue states). I am not even sure what "civilized" means any more. My core values are being challenged with every news report I read coming out of Fulluja.

56. I hear ya! To add insult to injury, consider the fact that all
this recent spate of "death and destruction" complements of our 2000lb bombing runs ... far too often kill civilians instead of the dastardly insurgents (amazingly all kin of Al Zarkowi<sp?) ...

Beyond all the horrors of war and the fact that, like the rest of the world, many of us Americans consider this both an illegal and immoral war ...

IT'S OUR (Americans') TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!!! :(

Screw the Fatherland and schools when we can have endless war and keep the populace in a paralyzed state of fear.

10. Incredible
This moran is unbelievable. Didn't they appeal to the UN to get us to allow aid to reach civilians trapped in the city? Consistent reports of no food, no water, no medicine, coming from different sources, and this guy dismisses it, and says he doesn't believe it.

We are committing war crimes, and they think all they have to do is to just say that it isn't happening. We used to be a country who cared about killing, maiming, and starving innocent civilians, but I guess with * in charge, the only compassion this administration feel is for poor overtaxed multi- billionaires, because they sure don't have any to spare of anybody else.

Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 07:18 PM by celestia671
They keep talking about this guy and linking him to every terrorist or insurgent act committed in Iraq. The writer of the blog mentions that it was thought that Zarqawi escaped from Fallujah, and wondered if they would have him in Mosul next. From what the guy writes, Mosul is in pretty bad shape too.

I hope the 50 million plus zombies who gave that fucktard and his henchmen another four years to finish flushing what's left of our reputation as a just and democratic nation down the toilet are happy with themselves and their moral values!

24. The sad thing is
let's just suppose that even a third of the troops are against this war. It is conceivable. I can't believe ALL the troops have become brainwashed. My heart goes out to what must be a hell on earth -- for everyone concerned.

OTOH, for those troops who are inherently nutcases or have been brainwashed, I have mixed feelings. Let's face it, half of our damn country is brainwashed, and under far less stressful circumstances.

I fear what will come home after this experience.

If aid is not needed then why are we being asked to send care packages to our military? Something isn't right here. Care packages given to the people of Iraq and not our military? So there is plenty for the people or Iraq and not for our military? There is something wrong with this picture.

"These are pretty diehard. These people down there are not sniping or firing, but waiting in their defenses for the Marines coming to their buildings. That's when they open fire," Marine Colonel Mike Shupp told Reuters at the hospital.

Shupp said he had not heard of any Iraqi civilians being trapped inside the city and did not think there were any, so the Red Crescent did not need to deliver aid to civilians there.

Edited on Sun Nov-14-04 09:12 PM by maddezmom
No help has reached civilians in Falluja since the assault began on Monday and U.S. forces kept a Red Crescent aid convoy of seven trucks and ambulances waiting at the main hospital near a bridge over the Euphrates River on the edge of the city.

A Reuters correspondent who drove through the city saw bloated and decomposing bodies in the streets, smashed homes, ruined mosques, power and telephone lines hanging uselessly.

41. Saw this story....
sorry if dupe:

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=251539

BAGHDAD, Iraq Nov 14, 2004 — In the weeks before the crushing military assault on his hometown, Bilal Hussein sent his parents and brother away from Fallujah to stay with relatives.

The 33-year-old Associated Press photographer stayed behind to capture insider images during the siege of the former insurgent stronghold.

......................
"Destruction was everywhere. I saw people lying dead in the streets, wounded were bleeding and there was no one to come and help them. Even the civilians who stayed in Fallujah were too afraid to go out," he said.

"There was no medicine, water, no electricity nor food for days."
...............................
"U.S. soldiers began to open fire on the houses, so I decided that it was very dangerous to stay in my house," he said.

Hussein said he panicked, seizing on a plan to escape across the Euphrates River, which flows on the western side of the city

"I wasn't really thinking," he said. "Suddenly, I just had to get out. I didn't think there was any other choice."

In the rush, Hussein left behind his camera lens and a satellite telephone for transmitting his images. His lens, marked with the distinctive AP logo, was discovered two days later by U.S. Marines next to a dead man's body in a house in Jolan.

AP colleagues in the Baghdad bureau, who by then had not heard from Hussein in 48 hours, became even more worried.

Hussein moved from house to house dodging gunfire and reached the river.

"I decided to swim … but I changed my mind after seeing U.S. helicopters firing on and killing people who tried to cross the river."

He watched horrified as a family of five was shot dead as they tried to cross. Then, he "helped bury a man by the river bank, with my own hands."
