FALLUJAH, Iraq (AFP) - A convoy of 50 trucks laden with emergency aid travelled to the Iraqi village of Saqlawiyah, where thousands of residents from nearby Fallujah have sought shelter, according to an AFP photographer.
Aid agencies have voiced fears of a humanitarian crisis after tens of thousands of people fled a huge US-Iraqi assault on the rebel stronghold of Fallujah to make-shift camps in surrounding villages and Baghdad.
The convoy, comprised of trucks from the Association of Islamic Aid and the Red Cross, carried milk, dates, wheat and clothes, the photographer said.
People from the province of Diyalah, east of Baghdad, provided the aid, which was being distributed by the Association of Islamic Aid, a relief worker said Tuesday.
