Green Party Claims Ohio Ballot Recount a 'Certainty'
November 16, 2004

(CNSNews.com) - Almost two weeks after Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. John Kerry, threw in the towel in the 2004 race, the Green Party claims that a recount in the crucial state of Ohio is now a "certainty."
snip----
James Lee, Blackwell's spokesman, Monday dismissed the idea that a recount of Ohio's presidential voting was a certainty, as claimed by Cobb.

A recount is impossible until the results are certified, which Lee estimated would happen around Dec. 6. And separate recount requests must be filed with each county in Ohio, Lee added.
snip---
Presidential electors (the individuals casting the electoral votes) "actually vote on Dec. 13. But those votes are not opened by Congress until Jan. 6. So there is still time to challenge the results in Ohio, as well as other close states such as New Mexico, Iowa and Nevada," Turley said. "This is not to say that a recount is likely to change the result of the election, but it is not an impossibility."

Blackwell is an enemy of democracy and the People of the United States.

If he tries to block this recount, we will know with absolute certainty that the election in Ohio was fixed, and that Blackwell orchestrated the fraud.

1. of course we'll know that Blackwell orchestrated fraud
But what do we do about it?
If the media decides it's no big deal, it's no big deal.
I mean, this isn't the Scott Peterson trial or anything IMPORTANT for the survival of Democracy or anything.

2. We should sponsor legislation that requires each state
to 1.either have a representative of each major party jointly in charge of elections or..2. have elections supervised by a committee of representatives from all parties.
Having a single person in charge seems to be a problem.

8. Doesn't it also make sense
that the electoral votes no longer have to be transported to DC by horseback. The period available for a recount could be extended a couple weeks and still allow for plenty of time to get the EV taken care of by 1/6/20XX.

Electoral reform should also remove current incentives to run out the clock. It's more important to get it right.

3. If Blackwell stops a recount, the torches and pitchforks may finally
come out.

4. if blackwell stops a recount, there's a good chance some kooks
will try to harm him.

though he's doing his best to be a good stepinfetchit for the bushies, he may have to weigh which is more important to him, doing their bidding or his safety.

i would certainly never advocate someone harming a political figure, but a lot of people are very, very frustrated by this. i'm afraid the torches and pitchforks aren't far off.

9. I tell you it is getting close to that. But then the whole
thing can easily snowball into chaos. I keep seeing visions of the French Revolution that destroyed the country.

5. So when can we hope to know for sure if there will be a re-count?
Does anyone know?.......my nerves are quite shot. I really want to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And, I don't think I can handle BU$H being at the end of that tunnel. I think we are going to have to start a whole new forum in DU called "psyco-therapy".

6. and suppose there was a recount....
And suppose it appeared that there were enough votes to change the outcome of the election. Don't you think at some point the squabble over the legality of the results would end up in the court system. And once it got there, don't you think that it would end up just like the 2000 erection.

There was no way from the very beginning that the corporate fascists were going to leave this up to chance. Not this one, not the next one. Not ever again in our lifetime will we see a fair and honest election. Democracy as we knew it is dead. Has been for 4 years, will be for the rest of my life.

10. It would be best if it came to this, I think
It is better that people see what is going on, if the election has been tampered with sufficiently to steal it for Bush.

7. We should....
a) write Blackwell everyday to remind him that we want a recount
b) encourage Moveon.org to send out an action e-mail to write Blackwell everyday to remind him that we want a recount.
c) Ohio should organize a work stop plan. Each day everyone stops working for a specific block of time to send the message. Have the length increase over time.
d) Those in close proximity should organize a group of people to stand outside his office demanding a recount.

11. Seems the least our Democratic lawyers could do...
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 05:09 PM by DeepModem Mom
is draw attention to the irregularities and voter suppression, and to Blackwell's running out the clock. Since they apparently were not at the hearing in Columbus on Saturday, however, this seems like a remote possibility.
