By BETH FOUHY Associated Press writer

STANFORD, Calif. — The presidents of the three major TV network news
divisions put aside their rivalries for one day, gathering at a forum
to acknowledge that the days when people patiently waited to tune into
their evening newscasts have passed.

(snip)

On Iraq, the three said that, in retrospect, they should have more
aggressively questioned the Bush administration’s grounds for invading
Iraq in the spring of 2003.

"Simply stated, we let down the American people on weapons of mass
destruction, and I sincerely regret that," Westin said.

(snip)

All three also said their networks had set up investigative units to
review any claims of voter fraud or problems with electronic voting
technology this year, but that nothing significant had appeared
anywhere to affect the election’s outcome.

1. RE: going to war,
way too little, way too late. I thought the job of the media was to question ... oh, that's right, not anymore...

4. I am getting so sick of this routine.
First the media arrogantly declare their version of the truth, refuse to act tough questions and hold leaders accountable, then puff out their collective chest as they accept "kudos" for their hard-hitting reporting.
Then, when reality becomes undeniable, they issue an apology and then move on to ignore the NEXT big story.

Hey, jerks -- in case you didn't notice, there's a bit of an election-related story perculating here. Do you think you might be able to take one reporter off the "did Nick and Jessica break up?" beat and cover it?

They need to get their hands on Bev Harris' BBV video of Volusia County, FL election officials throwing out signed poll tapes!
