Rossi back in lead by 19
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- After a day of vote-counting with more suspenseful twists than an Alfred Hitchcock movie, Republican Dino Rossi held a 19-vote lead over Democrat Christine Gregoire on Tuesday night in the governor's race.

With the candidates so close, out of 2.8 million ballots cast, the winner will come down to the final day of counting. A statewide recount is looking more likely by the minute. Other than Rossi's miniscule lead, it was a good day for Gregoire.

Tuesday's drama began when Grays Harbor County officials started recounting all 28,000 of their ballots after discovering a glitch that mistakenly inflated Rossi's total. The recount was expected to give 500 more votes to Gregoire.

Then on Tuesday afternoon, Superior Court Judge Dean Lum ruled that King County should count provisional ballots that the Republican Party had challenged. The provisional ballots heavily favor Gregoire.

1. Jeez, I'm getting to think that every election should have
automatic recounts with all the problems voting machines have.

This is one of those "amusing" races where the Libertarian candidate really screwed over the Republican...what a shame.

I want my banks computer to have a glitch that mistakenly inflated my total... What was that Monopoly game card? Bank Error in your favor.

6. Has anyone done a comprehensive article on this?
Seems they ALWAYS glitch to the Republican side. What are the odds of that? If it were a cashier, he/she would be fired and fraud would be assumed.

4. wow, and I initially thought Eday canvassing wasn't important here
I spent all Election day canvassing in the GOTV effort for the Kerry campaign, and I thought this nonsense about GOTV for the governor's race was only lip service. I really thought Gregoire had it in the bag.

Now, I'm thrilled that I did my part and see that it was indeed valuable, although I can't believe she might lose. This race never should have been this close. This is what an uninspiring campaign, followed on the heels of the milquetoast Locke administration does to us.

8. The link says that the vote total is for 100% of precincts reporting.
And that is with only 64 votes separating the two. I'm sure that must fall within the margin that requires a recount. Sheesh.

9. George Carlin Says Your Vote Doesn't Count
George Carlin says 'Your Vote Doesn't Count', and I heard him saying this like a week before the election while he was being interviewed on a news show pimping his new book.

His website has no link to 'Contact George', but I have to say, he needs to see the above headline, and he needs to stop telling his audiences 'Your vote doesn't count'.

I personally was disgusted that he had the balls to say such a statement a week before the elections and to be quite honest, I doubt I will watch his once funny shows anymore, because I am always going to remember his words surpressing my personal actions, and the actions of others registering people to vote.

19 votes is the lead now, hmmm, I wonder how many George Carlin Fans in this district didn't vote because 'George' says your vote doesn't count.
