1. When did we pass 1200 dead?
I seem to have missed the last ten or so.
They just keep rolling in, don't they?
Seems like the country does not even give a fuck.

The handlers of the Sock-Puppet Chimp are waiting for another 9-11. Then you will see all hell break loose.

They will limp along in the meantime by using illegal mexican immigrants, 49 year old school teachers and hotel clerks and anyone else they can convince to fight for "freedom".

Then there is this group of killers (the true hard corps), who will stay in Iraq-Nam for long extended periods because many of them "like it there". To them war is kind of like a never ending deer season with human prey to stalk and kill. Kind of like the troop named Bunny in "Platoon". The one who used to like to bash the gooks heads in with his rifle butt.

7. RIP Patrick and Antoine
alongside your 1207 brothers - with possibly 100,000 Iraqis and a few of the coalition of the willing and bought thrown in for good measure.

RIP with all of those that have been murdered by the call to war from the illegitimate crowd that occupies our nation's capitol.

For all of your souls, I can only wish for peace, knowing that the very same people who sought your death (and I speak of the governmental minions) care not a whit what they have done.

Thank you Saigon for reminding us all of the cost.

:(

9. icasualties says the total is 1211 now
This is how Vietnams happen: the KIA total stops being front page news, and eventually it stops being news at all. People notice, and then they don't. It's becomes a routine thing like the weather report, with the occasional big storm, and a steady drizzle of losses that go unremarked most days.

Multiply this past week -- and the general nonreaction to it -- by several years of active conflict, and you start edging toward a Vietnam-level body count. What's missing are the great lots of conscripts being shipped out and dropped into the meatgrinder. There's no draft yet. But the legal machinery that supplies this last element still exists, and it seems they've been cleaning the gears recently...

12. My how time flies
and Americans (and Iraqis) die.

Just a really quick note to thank you for this solmen duty you perform, Saigon68. You do more to honor to our fallen than the entire administration. I salute and thank you for it, even tho I don't always post in your threads.

BTW, I married my first husband in 1968, and he went off to Vietnam 17 days later. Came back in one piece (for the most part). Served with the Army (Engineers) at Bien Hoa air base.

14. Thank you
I don't enjoy it at all.

I have this terrible feeling that very few people really care what is going on.

The Sinclair Thugs who repfused to broadcast Night-Line are actively trying to supress honoring the fallen poor and minorities who are the bulk of these casualties.
