Cambridge, Minn. (AP) An automatic recount begins today in a
legislative race that will determine whether the Minnesota House is
split evenly next session.

The State Canvassing Board has certified the November election results
and ordered an automatic recount in a Mora-area race.

Unofficially, Republican Judy Soderstrom defeated DFL'er Tim Faust by
94 votes for the seat. But because the margin of victory was less than
a half of one percent of the total votes cast, state law calls for an
automatic recount.

As it now stands, Republicans would have a 68-to-66 margin over
DFL'ers in the state House next session. But if the Mora-area race is
reversed, the House would be split 67-67.

Edited to add: but you need to know what county -- MN has no DREs, according to this map, but mostly optical scan, "mixed" and some paper counties.
