(Texas gov) Perry Names New Secretary Of State
Weatherford car dealer J. Roger Williams will succeed Geoffrey Connor as Texas Secretary of State, Gov. Rick Perry announced Wednesday.

Williams is chairman of Roger Williams AutoMall in Weatherford
and Vestry Financial of Fort Worth.
...
Williams was a baseball standout at Texas Christian University in the 1960s and went on to play professional baseball for the Atlanta Braves Farm team from 1971 to 1974.

He also served as assistant coach and later head coach of the TCU baseball team.
...
The Secretary of State is the chief elections officer for Texas and also oversees business and public filings, acts as the governor's chief liaison for border affairs and oversees
international protocol for Texas.

What, did Guvnor Goodhair and Geoffrey break up?

I live in Austin and I don't hear anything! Of course, that may be because my fingers are jammed so deeply in my ears. lalalalalalalala

4. What's wrong w/a used-car salesman former jock?
This is EXACTLY how we pick our legal representatives of the big state of Texas, get with the program already!

Although, had it been a used car salesman former jock in football we would have coroneted him, saving him from a life of selling BarcoLoungers at the local strip mall.

/dripping with sarcasm

And yeah, what happened to Perry's girlfriend Geoffrey??? (no sarcasm on this point)

7. Look who our gov was at one point..
We had no friggin' business getting shrub into office but that didn't stop us, did it?

And here is something that will make you groan..during his 2nd run at the gov office, the race between the Repuke and Dem Lt Gov was even bloodier than the gov race? WHY? Cuz if the Dem Lt gov were to win, there is no way shrub would have gone to DC..that would have left TX in the hands of a Dem gov. The Repuke Lt Gov won but only by about 60,000. So 60,000 fucked up Texans helped pave the way to hell that we find ourselve on right now. One more example of how a small vote spread can really really screw things up.

5. Groooooan.
Well, if he will STFU and listen to my county's elections guy, who is sane, and, I believe, honest, I'll give him a chance.

6. Who is an honest election official in a county in Texas?
Where? Where? Would he have any influence on the others? Would he be an inside eyes and ears for honest vote activists? (reply privately if you wish)

10. Also wanted to add that as in much of Texas, we are a repuke county.

If we did not have a Dem at the helm, the story would be quite different. We also have the old fashion form of voting, pencil and scantrons. Both county party chairs come and watch the votes being counted.
