1. Bush has gotten no further than anybody else on this matter
Anwar Sadat, Jimmy Carter and all those guys from yester year never got any further than this. All the best made plans have fallen by the wayside.

5. Not really true...
Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin, and Anwar Sadat have a signed peace deal that is still holding. This is far neyond anything the repugs have ever accomplished in the region.

Later,
JM

12. And it's very possible Clinton could have signed another deal
with Arafat and Rabin - which is why Likud killed him. They were making progress. Seems like entirely another lifetime now :-(

3. Back to where they started.
Except the Palestinian people are in a weaker position from which to deal with Israel. In fact there is no dealing at this point.

This is purely speculation on my part but I think Sharon is just waiting for another suicide attack from Palestine then the Israel military is going to call up reservists and go in to all the occuppied territories.

6. Wait a minute, wait a minute!
They had the Hamas leader corned in an elevator shaft, and they went ahead and blew up the entire building leaving 28 families homeless?

11. This is a brand of "terrorism" the US simply ignores.
It would make terrorists of us all if an occupying force proceded to blow up our homes making most of us hopeless refugess, and kept us from moving around to get to work. How much of this could or would we Americans take before we would be resorting to fighting back? Could we stand to see our infants, toddlers, and young children living in such squalor as caused by the bulldozing and blowing up of our homes, farms, and places of work?

This resignation is a sad, sad day for humanity.

13. That's Sharon for ya...
see previous examples Jenin, Ramalla, Shatilla, etc. At least he didn't run them over with bulldozers this time.

9. So The Israelis Will Expel Arafat
upon which Hamas will gain power and initiate a hot guerilla war. Thousands will die. Israel will give up and pull out of the West Bank within five years. At least that's my guess.

10. nah
He's way too useful as the boogeyman. The Israeli public and it's amen corner in the US would be confused if he was gone and it would take too much time to train them to be scared of another Palestinian.
