CIA denies Goss ordered staff to 'back Bush'
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/17/cia.memo/index.html

CIA officials angrily insisted Wednesday that a memo from intelligence chief Porter Goss did not order his staff to "back Bush," as a newspaper headline put it Wednesday.

According to an official in possession of the memo, Goss told his staff:

"I also intend to clarify beyond doubt the rules of the road. We support the administration, and its policies in our work as agency employees. We do not identify with, support or champion opposition to the administration or its policies. We provide the intelligence as we see it -- and let the facts alone speak to the policymaker."

The New York Times reported on the memo Wednesday in a story with the headline, "Chief of CIA Tells His Staff To Back Bush."

3. No he did say it
But he is now trying to say thats not what he ment by that statement, If I was an employee and recieved a memo like that I would believe that I was to tow the offical line! He can not have it both ways, but we all knew what he was when he was put in place. Condis gonna be even worse.

8. What that means said CIA spokesman.
"What that means," said CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano, "is when we are asked to provide intelligence on a particular topic, we do so without shading or shaping the information in any way. It is not a question of partisan support."

Well Paul, why didn't your idiot boss just say what he meant then instead of couching his language in tones that one has to fucking guess at?

21. I don't think I'd want to meet the person who could process facts. . .
"without shading or shaping the information in any way."

How brain dead do you have to be to have no opinion?

2. They aren't supposed to support the administration
they are supposed to support the people.

I don't understand how Porter Goss is not being called on his lie - he lied to the Senate and said he would not be political. The CIA is going to be in shambles soon.

Republican Speak for being Bi-Partisan, unfortunately hardly anyone understands Republican Speak(except us non Repubs because we have gotten wise to it)... Sounds to me like he saying exactly what he means, regardless of what happens the Administration is always right, sounds like Bushes kind of person to me a YES person.

6. AFAICT: Porter Goss hasn't told the truth about anything. Ever.
The guy said he wouldn't be a "political" hack as DCI. Then he brought along the shoplifter and his GOP prick staff to Langley. But that's not the worst of it. Hopsicker pegged the little turd as Operation 40. Makes perfect sense viz a viz "Poppy." Same folks probably got Wellstone.

13. That's worse than Bush.
Bush told the truth...once. "They never stop thinking of new ways to harm our people and our country, and neither do we."

16. SHUT UP!!! SIT DOWN!!! DON'T THINK!!! *fascism*
,...fascism,...fascism,...fascism,...

Mussolini did leave out one aspect beyond the "corporatism" thingy with regard to fascism,...he forgot to include the "win at all cost" facet.

Gather human beings whose CENTER WORTH are IN themselves (rather than the worth of all those beyond them),...and you have the perfect brew of destruction.

19. This is the VERY SAME SHIT as the WMD and Osama-Saddam links
No one *says* it directly, but in carefully crafted phraseology that leads you to that conclusion .... willful misleading while not technically lying.

Try small, clear words, assholes!

20. Isn't the role
to provide intelligence anyway? Then why the letter except "to support the administration"? The Times got it right.

22. what I'd do.....
swear allegiance to them, and then provide them with all of the fantasy "intel" that their emperor desires, with the end result hopefully backfiring enough to be a hard lesson to them about having yes men in intel positions.....
