Election is over, act like it
the only reason I'm posting this is because DU is mentioned in like the 2nd paragraph of the column

http://www.marshallparthenon.com/news/841768.html?mkey=105601

I am about to state the obvious. The 2004 presidential election is over.

Politicians on both sides are saying now is the time for the nation to pull together in this experiment called democracy and show the world why our system and our country is so great. Why, then, are liberals struggling to take their Web site's own advice and move on?

If you are oblivious to newspaper letters-to-the-editor and liberal havens like the Democratic underground forums you might need to refer to car bumper stickers to see people unwilling to concede that John Kerry lost. Don't worry, such reference material is abundant in the Tri-State.

2. I've been keeping my Kerry sticker on
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 11:59 AM by spunky
until I find an anti-Bush sticker I really like to replace it.

Edit: I accepted the election was over when Kerry wimped out and conceded the next day.

6. what's clear about it?
why is 'now' the time to say * won fair and square? i'm not aware of any proof released recently which shows the election was legitimate. in fact, I KNOW such proof is impossible in our current system.

3. Are there still Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers available?
"...but the one thing the stickers can accomplish is to show disdain for the president..."

Reason enough to leave them on.

5. this guy should just let go
the gloating period is long over.

The republicans that said the opposition to Rice was partisan bitterness looked even more foolish than they usually do. The helicopter crash makes it impossible to ignore that there's acutally some reason to question war supporters like Rice.

Good grief.

I don't think I'll be looking to the guy that's spewing xenophobic garbage for advice on how we should all hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

11. It's The Student Newspaper at Marshall University...
the home of the Parlock children, Soupy Sales, Randy Moss and an athletic department that likes to pay football players $25 an hour for nonexistent janitorial jobs.

14. what a friggin' moron.
Pure blather- I'd expect better from someone at an institute of higher learning.

My Kerry sticker is staying on my truck, because

a) I do have disdain for this president and administration, so the representation is accurate.
b) I'm proud of my vote, and am happy to have people know that I didn't help to extend the current lunacy.

15. HAHAHAHAHAHAH! I laugh in your general direction!
That's just crazy. We are freemen. We can keep our bumperstickers on if we want. We don't have to accept the president if we don't want to. We are the People, and we are political sovereigns in the United States of America. We can do whatever the fuck we want to, including opposing the government recently "elected".

20. I agree...
There is no law or anything else that says we have to support the president just because he's the president.

My dad once told me it was our duty as citizens not only to vote for who we think can best lead the country, but to also oppose that which could destroy it. King George in my opinion is a criminal, suffers from organic brain syndrome and needs a lobotomy.

21. Hey we may have lost, but that does not mean we have to . . .
like Bush or his policies. If we did, we would have voted for him. Oh, and this across-the-isle effort the Republicans keep talking about . . . it's more like across-the-isle on your knees cause we have all the power.

This is not a democracy when one party controls everything. I remember someone saying, "Democracies can be lost behind closed doors." Now I see what they mean.
