Social Security plan has public anxious
Workers worried about system in ‘crisis’
By Sylvia A. Smith
Washington editor

<snip> Still to be answered: <snip>

Which government agency would keep track of how much each worker contributed to his or her private account? <snip>

Would there be a guaranteed payment to someone who had invested in a private account for, say, 30 years even if the account was shriveled upon retirement? If so, where would that money come from? <snip>

Would the investment program be voluntary, or would a portion of each worker’s Social Security payroll deduction be put in an investment account? <snip>

If money is removed from the Social Security trust fund for private accounts, what would happen to the national deficit? <snip>
