I just got my "election" pamphlet and boy, am I pissed.
As you may be aware, they (whoever the hell they are) decided to play scrabble with the alphabet in order to not appear to favor "candidates" whose last names start with A, B, C etc. So guess whose name appears first...that's right! Ah-nuld! But who's second on the list? Some guy you never heard of named George B. Schwartzman. Hmmm. Schwarzenegger...Schwartzman... which comes first alphabetically?
And where's Bustamante? Sixth from the end!
Bastards! I hate them. I hate them all.
Sorry there's nothing funny in this post. Subversion of democracy just doesn't tickle my funnybone.

1. They altered the order |

Each district, so no one candidate would be at the head of the list everywhere. You just happened to be in the "lucky spot".

4. I'm in Issa's district |

but I suppose you are right and it's just a coincidence. The fact that we are a hotbed of conservatism here in North San Diego County probably has nothing to do with it. Where's my tinfoil hat?
Still, shouldn't Ah-nuld be second on my ballet?

5. It's good that he's first in your district. |
|
That means that he's not in some other, more-moderate district.

3. actually, you are correct ... I hadn't thought of that .... |
|
They have scrambled the alphabet so that the ballot starts with a different letter in each precinct (or area?). BUT they scrambled the alphabet in blocks, where "S" and "B" are always in the same block. So, although "S" and "B" may be in the first block on the ballot or in the last or in any in between, .... "S" is ALWAYS ahead of "B".
