Krugman: The Tax-Cut Con
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 04:02 PM by Rumpole
An early start on Sunday's paper.
Krugman addresses the fallacies behind the push for tax cuts and the dangers of going too far.
(Hint: we've gone too far already.)

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/14/magazine/14TAXES.html

(It would have been really neat if I'd thought to put in the link without being reminded.)

I REALLY enjoyed his last magazine article, "For Richer". Is this going to be an annual thing?

2. Thanks!
This is a must read article by Krugman and although long, it is worth every minute invested. I really need to go out and buy his book this weekend. Although I have already read all the columns in it, I hear that the new material is worth the price of the book alone. Heck, I would buy the book if I had already read all of it just to register my support for his work. Perhaps I will pick up Franken's book as well as a birthday present to myself. :-)

7. Excellent article
Well worth the long read.

Now with an 87 Billion request for Haliburton .. er .. I mean Iraq expenses, and more to come, deficits mounting, this Congress needs to insist on rolling back those expensive tax giveaways to the bush*-cheney contributors.

11. Krugman on Real Time
Did anyone else feel terrible for poor Krugman the other night on Mahr's show. Ventura just kept shouting over him with bullshit that had no basis in reality (the farmer subsidies e.g.) At the end all the poor guy could do was shake his head and laugh I think he was really about to lose it. You can never get the truth about economics from TV discussions like that you need great articles like this one to get the whole picture. Great article Thanks
Scott
