Cronkite on Ashcroft; No one suspects....THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0919-09.htm

In his 2 1/2 years in office, Attorney General John Ashcroft has earned himself a remarkable distinction as the Torquemada of American law.

Tomas de Torquemada, you might recall, was the 15th-century Dominican friar who became the grand inquisitor of the Spanish Inquisition. He was largely responsible for its methods, including torture and the burning of heretics -- Muslims in particular.

Now, of course, I am not accusing the attorney general of pulling out anyone's fingernails or burning people at the stake (at least I don't know of any such cases). But one does get the sense these days that the old Spaniard's spirit is comfortably at home in Ashcroft's Department of Justice.

Ashcrofts DOJ on the hunt for porno peddlers, brown skinned terra'ists and lib-ah-ruls of all stripes and colors.

Walter Cronkite, the last living independent journalist in the world. Keep telling it like it is Walt!

I watched Cronkite and beleived him.

I watch Dan Blather and every word that Republican Whore says is a lie, including the "and's" and "but's"...even when he farts and belches, he's lying!

5. Yes we need Walter Cronkite back in the media
And I'm glad he's back. That's just the kind of man he is. He can't sit idly by in retirement when his country needs him. Thank you Walter.

6. Way to Go Walter...

...I grew up watching him on the CBS Evening News in the 1970's and 80's. I cannot recall him coming out so vehemently against something since his live reports from Vietnam and the aftermath that followed.
