Clintons Anoint Clark (Safire)

WASHINGTON — The Clintons decided that the Democratic primary campaign was getting out of hand. Howard Dean was getting all the buzz and too much of the passionate left's money. Word was out that Dean as nominee, owing Clintonites nothing, would quickly dump Terry McAuliffe, through whom Bill and Hillary maintain control of the Democratic National Committee.

That's when word was leaked of the former president's observation at an intimate dinner party at the Clinton Chappaqua, N.Y., estate that "there are two stars in the Democratic Party — Hillary and Wes Clark."

In the meantime, the four-star general that Clinton fired for being a publicity hog during the Kosovo liberation has now been surrounded by the Clinton-Gore mafia. Lead agent is Mark Fabiani, the impeachment spinmeister; he brought in the rest of the Restoration coterie. When reporters start poking into any defense contracts Clark arranged for clients after his retirement, he will have the lip-zipping services of the Clinton confidant Bruce Lindsey.

7. When I first saw that, I read it as "Satire".
It still reads that way, even if it really isn't.

8. By the way
When are reporters going to start "poking into" Bush's Texas Ranger deal, his business record, his drug record and his possible arrest record? Sorry, sometimes the double standard is just too much to bear.

This article got me so mad!! I began writing him an email and started to get knots in my stomach. I've saved the draft and may still send it when I can think straight. I may want to re-think the part at the end where I wrote: 'Mr. Safire - DROP DEAD, soon'.

:grr:

10. Endorsement by attack
If Safire's attacking Clark that speaks
well of Clark. We are known by our enemies.

That old asshole Safire is trying to smear Clark
with the Clinton brush. As if the fact that President
Clinton, one of the smartest and most caring
men ever to be *elected*, has influence in the
Dem party is a bad thing. Shit, I wish he had
more influence.

17. and dont forget....
he committed perjury in a Texas state court in that funeral home trial, was AWOL/Desserter in the Alabama National Guard while on drugs, and his insider trading, etc...Listen, only if you are a Dem does your past come back to haunt you. If you are a Repub your past cannot be brought up because it was such a long time ago it does not count. The so called "liberal" media will not touch Bush's sorry past.....but they sure will go after all the Dems!

16. Joe Klein's "Primary Colors"
Personal ambition is a Clinton characteristic. While Safire's conspiracy theory about Clark and the Hillary scenario are totally bogus, he is right on target about Terry McCauliff.

McCauliff is a scumbag with shady dealings (Global Crossings). He must be canned as head of DNC if the Democratic Party is to be cleansed of the corporatists whores that have been running the Beltway wing.

15. You can shoot the messenger or you can discuss the message.
A lot of piling on Safire but what was that " two stars " remark if it WASN'T BC annointing Clark over the rest of the field. The entire Clark campaign seems to be no more then a proxy Clinton campaign.

The Dean groundswell came from the rank and file. The Clark "groundswell" comes from the DNC/DLC. Which is more genuine.
