NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Diebold,
Incorporated (NYSE: DBD), a leader in providing security systems and solutions
for nearly 145 years, is now safeguarding the foundation of America's history,
the Charters of Freedom: the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of
Independence and the Bill of Rights, in three customized high-tech vaults
installed at the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C.

The recently renovated rotunda and re-encasement of the Charter documents
will be unveiled during a private ceremony at the National Archives on
Constitution Day, Wednesday, Sept. 17. The rotunda will be open to the public
on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.

"Diebold's specially designed vaults and doors incorporate the latest
technology to protect the most precious documents in American history from
theft and assault," said Adrienne Thomas, assistant archivist for
Administrative Services at the National Archives. "Diebold's security
knowledge and expertise will help the National Archives preserve a fundamental
piece of our country's heritage for generations."

The archive renovation includes an overhaul of the security system
safeguarding the Charters, and eliminates the steps in the Rotunda so these
important documents of American history are accessible to all visitors. The
transformation also includes a redesign of the permanent exhibit cases so all
four pages of the U.S. Constitution are prominently displayed.

5. we can expect a fire any day now
AP- Washington, D.C.: American History Goes Up In Flames

In an unexplained fire today the most precious documents of the United States were destroyed in a mysterious fire at the National Archives.
A spokesman requesting anonymity told the AP: "They weren't worth the paper they were written on, anyway."

Investigations into the matter were stopped by the Executive Branch as an unecessary expenditure in light of expanded tax cuts.

An anonymous spokesman for the White House told the AP:

"Congressional approval of Patriotic Act III made these documents irrelevant in any case and besides, the American people long ago forgot these ever existed. It's no great loss."

6. unbelievable
This is just too Orwellian. Rewriting history can't be far behind, the bu$h regime has already mastered doublespeak. Trusting Diebold to guard the Bill of Rights is like trusting the US to be peacekeepers in Iraq. Oh yeah we are doing these things aren't we and this isn't fiction. Holy crap!

7. Hell, I'm surprised that..................
.........the Republicans even tried to give a contract for this. I would've expected them to want to just "privatize" the Constitution and sell it off to the highest bidder.
