This Nation Needs Another Deep Throat
This was written by Sally Kalson of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It's a very good article, particularly when she is talking about the BFEE. Drip, drip, drip.........

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05152/513551.stm

"It will be interesting to see what kind of reactions emerge in the coming weeks. Who will commend Fell for upholding the honor of the presidency by unmasking a corrupt president? Who will label him a traitor to his office?"

"It will be even more interesting if the hubbub around this story inspires an equally high-ranking official in the Bush administration to similarly place the best interests of the nation above that of the man who made so mnay false claims to justify a war against Iraq."

"Who knows, there could be another potential Deep Throat currently inhabiting the halls of power, every bit as fed up with the conduct behind the scenes of this White House, who just needs an extra jolt to set his or her conscience in motion."

"Based on what we've seen happen to other former Bushies who went "off message," that person could certainly be forgiven for wanting to remain every bit as anonymous as Deep Throat did for all these years. But Felt's coming forward spurs us to look one more time at this history and make a judgment as to which is worth more: loyalty to the man in office or loyalty to the ideals of the nation he is sworn to serve."

1. No, this nation needs another MEDIA
Our media keeps wilting under WH pressure, if it ever criticizes objectionable WH actions in the first place.

3. We need more Woodwards, Bernsteins & Bradlees
who are brave enough to investigate the disgusting corruption in our government.

And more Katharine Graham-type publishers gutsy enough to allow and encourage such investigation instead of kowtowing to the stockholders and the corporate advertisers.

4. You're right about Katharine Graham.
Without her support Woodward, Bernstein, and Bradlee wouldn't have been able to do the important investigations that they did.

I read her auto-biography, "Personal History." She's a great, great woman.

2. It needs a free media AND
a Deep Throat type.

"Dear Future Deep Throat (I Promise you a new name)"

"Since we no longer have a mainstream media or a mainstream grasp on reality and since you would be bound to an oath of duty, not and oath of loyalty, I urge your to come forward and contact me."

"I watched Pat Buchanan speak of "honor" and "loyalty", serving at the "pleasure of the president". Do we have a king? Do you take a vow of loyalty that supersedes your vow of duty to us, the citizens, to the Constitution, to this country?"

"I know you are there, somewhere, whispering to yourself: "the horror, the horror". I know the guilt weighs on your soul. I know you see the faces of the tortured and beg for God's forgiveness. I know that you see our American elderly be stripped of their dignity and beg for a reprieve from the collective and brutal honesty that history provides in judging us all."

We need a deep cover type so they won't get "suicided" like James Hatfield.
