3. Sadly...
The Downing Street Memo is not going to come to anything. I honestly think the American public is living in it's own little cocoon and will stay there soft and warm until the rest of the world blows up in anger over our actions.

6.  I am no psychic but:
I see the word being forced out of the blogs and into the main media by us, John Conyers and others. In order for Democracy to work we MUST have an informed electorate as a first step.

13. I don't think.........
That our electorate is informed a all. Some of us are as evidenced by places like the DU, but for a large part our electorate is incredibly naive. The vast majority of this country gets their national news from watching the nightly news which is sorely lacking in getting much of anything of importance on the air. Another large chunk of the public that gets news from the 24 hour news channels gets the "pervert of the day" (as Teddy so eloquently put it) tossed at them 24/7.

We get sound bites in this country and there's no meat in the news...........or our attention span isn't held long enough to absorb the meaning of the occasional bone we get tossed to us by the so-called press.

Yes we have had votes taken away from us. That little news item wasn't picked up and carried by the press much either.

14. Democrats still got more votes in 2000 AND 2004
unless one is stupid enough to believe that Bush didn't steal it again last year, so the electorate can't be that badly informed.

The problem with American voters is not ignorance, it's cowardliness.

15. Or it could be.......
Sheer laziness.

Can you tell I am jaded? Not to mention disgusted with a lack of reaction by the public as to what this lying Administration has gotten away with?

16. I agree, the electorate is not informed.
I've been to three different meetups recently, a DFA meetup, a John Edwards meetup, and a Democratic meetup (I'm trying to get people to combine forces). These are motivated, politically active people. I brought up the Downing Street Memo and all I got was blank stares. No one knew what I was talking about.
