Yay, my letter to the editor on the Downing Street Memo got published. There has been several letters published recently in our local paper.
Some newspapers across the country, including the Herald-Leader, are starting to report on the Downing Street memo, released more than a month ago in England, which reveals that President Bush told British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the spring of 2002 that war with Iraq was inevitable and that the intelligence was going to be "fixed."
It should be clear, even to those who listen to "fair and balanced" news, that every allegation made by this administration about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction had credible, contradictory intelligence that was not shared with Congress or the American people before the war.
Instead of being held accountable, the people who were involved in pushing the flawed intelligence are getting promotions.
A few years ago, we impeached a president for lying about a sexual affair. It wasn't about the sex, we were told, it was about the lies.
Tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians are dead. Nearly 1,700 American soldiers are dead. Thousands more have permanent disabilities, and if Bush supporters don't start lining up at recruiting offices soon, we face the possibility of a draft after 30 years.
Hello "liberal media," why aren't you reporting on this?
