Dean isn't the problem

By Joan Vennochi, Globe Columnist | June 9, 2005

DEMOCRATS ARE running against Howard Dean instead of George W. Bush and the GOP -- or, better yet, running for principles that matter to the country.

It makes little sense, unless the intent is to destroy what's left of their shell of a political party.

Dean, the head of the Democratic National Committee, is under attack by fellow Democrats who are allegedly upset at his partisan rhetoric. Critics such as Senators Joseph Biden of Delaware and former senator John Edwards of North Carolina are taking their shots at Dean, just as if they were sitting next to him during a debate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, or Manchester, N.H. They sound like they are positioning themselves for a future presidential campaign rather than working together to rebuild a party with a message for the future.

1. No **it
What are they trying to hide? Does Dean know that our congress is up to their ears in bad behavior? What is it about the truth that forces democrats to turn white and run? Where are the balls in this party. No ****ing wonder we lose. No backbone, no balls except in Dean the Dem women and a few others like Conyers. I won't support one of these weasels except through the DNC. Fat chance I'll work to re-elect any spineless democrat, wake the hell up and find some spine, democratic government officials.

2. Pretty much nails it.
The repukes stick together regardless of how stupid the candidate or leader of the regime is. Whereas the Democrats fight among themselves ignoring the other side, allowing the repukes to formulate and implement all sorts of little schemes.

3. But this is nothing new
Democrats never stick together (see the Lewinsky scandal, the 2000 elsction, and 2004 and Democrats spreading out anti-Kerry's memes).

The problem is that some Democrats cannot resist to a reporter asking them to criticize another reporter.

While I agree that the Democrats should stop criticizing each others on TV like that, Vennochi is a weird messager for that.

5. This line is exactly what I've been waiting for, haven't heard it yet.
"General Motors announces it will eliminate 25,000 jobs, and its CEO complains that health benefits reduce profits. Where are the Democrats brave enough to say the burden falls on GM to design fuel-efficient cars people want to buy rather than on workers who produce those cars?"
