Why the 'Downing Street memo' hasn't rocked Bush's world
To many who oppose the Iraq war, the "Downing Street memo" seemed just the dynamite needed to dislodge from office a man they love to hate, George W. Bush.

Instead, the DSM, as it's become known, has been a dud so far.

Stateside, the response to this leaked July 2002 memo, which detailed British government concerns about the White House's race to war in Iraq, has been mostly ho-hum.

The been-there-done-that response has left W.'s Teflon unnicked - and foes of the war howling. They blame the fizzling of the DSM on the MSM, the mainstream media

<snip>

George W. Bush's punishment should have been for voters to fire him last year. Didn't happen. The Downing Street memo, interesting as it is, can't change that.

1. George W. Bush's punishment should have been for voters to fire him last
year. And they did it was only thru wide spread FRAUD and the complicity of the Corporate Controlled Media that they managed to give the FAUX appearance of a MAN DATE. aWoL & CO are going down.

2. The Response From the Bought and Paid For Media
That's what's been ho-hum.

I've talked to tons of people about it and they hadn't heard about it AT ALL. "Downing Street Memo? What's that?"

No wonder the response has been "ho-hum". Not enough people have heard about it, or too many are misinformed about it for them to be anything but.

People react based on what the news says. If Brian Williams says "Ho-hum" everyone else just thinks "Ah I guess it's no big deal"

MEDIA FAILURE.

6. Ask the same people what Dean said last week and they all know.
Media doesn't report anything worth reading, CNN has a LONG LONG way to go to be taken seriously.

7. Exactly
Dean mentioned an uncomfortable truth, it's totally outrageous.

Memo what? Bah, that's not even old news, that's no-news.

The editors and owners of the major media outlets should be put on trial for treason. They've betrayed our trust of them, and our country.

3. The main stream media attitude is quite logical.
It is this. "We already know without doubt that Bush lied us into this war. So why do we need further proof?" Of course in the "United States of Amnesia" (as Vidal calls us) the fact the previous president was impeached for lying is forgotten.

5. I think people just don't care. Basically, from what I see of the
attitudes here in Jesusland: F--k those sand n-gg-rs, kick their heathern ass and take the gas.

9. MHO, few were prepared to care until
The war clearly started going south. The Bush Admin kept fobbing of critics with "just wait until the elections, everything will be fine"

That worked for a month or so, even Bill Maher got on the bandwagon.

Now it is clear nothing has changed for the better. Civil war is looming, our soldiers are dying, the world hates us.

Of course this would be meaningless if not for the fear of the draft, the money pit Iraq has become and the economy not showing signs of rebounding strongly.

Personal self-interest is a powerful motivator for the sheeple.

If you lie to them but everything turns out A-Okay, they don't care, however lie and make a mess, then they care because they have to help clean it up.

Now the polls in favor of the war(and media ratings) are in freefall, which means people are ready to finally listen.

began L-O-N-G before the *dauphin was installed as the frontman. I leave it to Mopaul to fill in the blanks. ;-)
