Protect PBS, NPR / Public deserves their excellence
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 11:10 AM by Skinner
<snip> That means it's time to do more than make the annual pledge. Today's the day to call or e-mail your representative in Washington to protest:

• A proposed $100 million cut (25 percent) in the CPB appropriation passed last year for fiscal 2006.

• The proposed elimination of Ready to Learn, a demonstrably successful preparedness program for kids and families that provides children's programming, family workshops, kits for educators, online resources and the like -- a program so successful that President Bush's budget recommended a $23 million appropriation for it.

• The proposed elimination of appropriations for digital technology infrastructure, despite a congressional mandate that TV stations gradually switch to digital equipment.

• The proposed defunding of a $21 million program that provides matching funds for capital expenditures. <snip>

2. I assumed the bullets after a colon count as part of the paragraph ..
.. in which the colon lies, when the bullets themselves do not comprise complete sentences. Sorry!
