Bush in Arizona: 34% approval.
Saddam in Bagdhad: 38% approval.

Bush Support in AZ on par with Saddam's in Baghdad

Barely one-third of Arizona voters say they would give President Bush a second term, a statewide poll revealed Thursday.

The 34 percent support for his re-election, with 44 percent preferring someone else and 22 percent undecided, reflects a dramatic plunge in popularity for Bush. In 2000, he beat Al Gore in Arizona by a margin of 6 percentage points, or nearly 100,000 votes of 1.5 million cast.

Story

(AP) The survey found that 62 percent think ousting Saddam was worth the hardships they have endured since the invasion. In the five months since coalition forces defeated Saddam and his armies, Iraq has faced continuing violence, electrical outages, job shortages and civil unrest.

3. Who won Arizona in 2000?

I know Clinton won it in '96, but even if Gore captured Ariz. I imagine it had to be close. For him to get 34 percent reelect in a state that's used to be hardcore Repub is astounding.

Edit: I just saw in the post that Bush won. Wow. This sounds like a state we could add to our column in 2004!

5. Gore Carried AZ in 2000
after listening to hardcore Republican friends/neighbors who thought Bush walked-on-water and voted for Bush in 2000, are mad as hell now with him and his administration and are saying they will not vote for him again.

4. That was a poll of Iraqis, not Americans.
There is another part of the poll that indicates over 90% of Iraqis feel the country is unsafe. That part doesn't get reported.
