Thank your lucky stars that Al Gore invented the internet! |
|
Otherwise I'd be typing this message to myself. And yes I know there would be no internet without Al Gore. Fact.

1. The ultimate savior of our democracy? |
|
Really, can you imagine our limitations on information sharing without the internet? BBV, 9/11, Iraq? Many of us would be suspecting that something's not right, but we'd have precious few outlets to validate our suspicions.
When the mass media power elites were putting their plans in place to control information, the Internet was hardly registering on their radar screen....I wonder if the Republicans would have been so forthcoming on it's creation if they saw how powerful a tool for truth that it would become?

My guess is they're probably cooking up schemes right now on how to coopt the internet and shut it down as a medium for dissenters to share information.
On Edit: "Hell No" refers to the quote in italics not the subject line of OaITW's post.

3. There would be no internet without Al Gore |

this is a fact. How could the repugs convince the masses that this was a big joke. It's like something out of 1984.

5. I've been thinking about how the Internet has impacted my life. |
|
My business is essentially Internet driven....but, even more so, is the impact on what I've learned in the past 5 years on the net. I used to read the "traditional" news sites, but after the 2000 election, I started searching out other sources of information. And, boy, have I learned a lot! Now I watch how Dean is turning the Internet into an organizing tool, how MoveOn.org has used the net to marshall campaigns on the issues that I believe in, how we are able to get LBN and get instant analysis that corroborates or refutes the news almost instanteneously.
I'm thinking that the 'net is going to be a powerful tool for good and truth going forward.....I only wish we had had the landscape in place when the Clinton Inquisition was underway....can you imagine how we could have killed the investigations dead in their tracks by broadcasting the truth?
