Dodging the censor's bullet
http://www.planetout.com/news/feature.html?sernum=1184&navpath=/news/opinion/

A true crisis of civil liberties has been narrowly averted today, at least until September 7. On June 23, 2005, Federal District Court Judge Walker Miller affirmed an agreement between the U.S. Department of Justice and plaintiffs in the case, temporarily blocking the enforcement of rules that would have forced many Web sites featuring adult material to shut down, cut back services or change their business plans.

What does this mean? Members of the Free Speech Coalition, of which PlanetOut Inc. is a member, maintain that your First, Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights are at stake, as well as the constitutional definition of legal search and seizure, just for a start.

1. Who-ho!
This is a dodged bullet. We'll see what happens from here, but parts of the new interpretation of the regs, especially the secondary producer parts which affect sites like gay.com so severely, will likely be struck down.

2. I'm also concerned with the pic trading groups
on sites like Yahoo

they're free and granted you get the same pics over and over, they're still pretty cool

it's a way for people to express themselves anonymously

there are certain adult retail establishments that even I wouldn't be caught dead in

3. There's no sticky floors over here
We only sell merchandise for adults to enjoy in the privacy of their own homes.

There's stuff for every flavor on Yahoo - my only problem is that I've run into pics that could be considered child porn over there.
