Lieberman Slams Clark Following Debate
From the Guardian in London

AP Political Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - Taking aim at the newcomer, Joe Lieberman on Friday accused presidential rival Wesley Clark of joining the Democratic Party for ``political convenience, not conviction'' as the retired general came under increased scrutiny.

Lieberman's attack, leveled one day after Clark escaped criticism in his first debate, underscored how quickly campaign strategies are shifting in the wake of two political phenomena: Clark's burst upon the crowded scene Sept. 17 and Howard Dean's front-running, Internet-driven campaign.

Dean, a former governor of Vermont, was criticized over several issues in Thursday's debate while Clark was largely given a pass. The day after, Lieberman took issue with Clark expressing support for the Bush administration's policies in a May 2001 address to the Arkansas GOP.

``I was fighting (Bush's) reckless economic strategy while Wes Clark was working to forward the Republican agenda by raising money for the Republican Party,'' the Connecticut senator said.

Snip ......

1. Lieberman is an Idiot, will never win the nomination, and it's debatable
If he's even really a democrat.....Personally, I can't stand his political views and even personally, he's not easy to like...He needs to GO AWAY..

2. Some people are making a habit of this sort of thing...
...will they endorse the nominee, or will they attempt to hand the election to Bush out of spite? Lieberman is doing a wonderful job of providing soundbites for the GOP.

"And Al Gore's 2004 running mate, Joe Lieberman, said that Clark was a Republican. Why vote for a Republican on the Democratic ticket when you can vote for Bush?"

"Al Gore's 2004 running mate, Joe Lieberman, said that Dean would lead America into the 'political wilderness' and cause a depression, leaving us weaker and less able to prevent another 9-11."

"..., Joe Lieberman, said that Dick Gephardt wants to return America to the failed tax-and-spend big government programs of the past."

I realize this is politics, but Joe is using his name recognition, and the fact that the DLC wedged him in on the 2000 ticket, to attempt to cripple the future campaign of all the potential nominees.

3. Leiberman = Jerk

1. Considering his position on such things like Cuba, Iraq and the vital issue of violent video games - you wonder why Leiberman is a democrat.

2. Why he wasn't this outspoken during Florida coup in 2000?. His silence then was thunderous. Why so outspoken now?

4. This is not the first time Lieberman has gone after someone.
He is like Barbara Bush. He does it in a soft voice.
