Bush's empire may crumble from within

June 23, 2005

"Up until 11 p.m. Eastern Time on election night, exit polls show John Kerry comfortably leading George Bush in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Mexico giving him a clear victory in the Electoral College, and a projected national margin of some 1.5 million votes....But after midnight, the vote count mysteriously turns, and by morning George W. Bush is declared the victor."

-- From the introduction to the book Did George W. Bush Steal America's 2004 Election?

"The evidence collected by the authors of this new book, all 767 pages of it, clearly constitute a case that this is, in fact, what happened on the night of November 5, 2004: that the President and the administration committed the most egregious manipulation, fraud and theft of the democratic system in order to continue in power..."

"...But now there is something moving in the underbelly of America something with the eerie echoes of Viet Nam ... and Watergate ... and it is the sound of truth wriggling and writhing and forcing its way into the consciousness of the American people...Now there are clear signs that as the truth inexorably forces its way out and into the American consciousness, the Bush attempt at establishing the American Empire is crumbling just as did the trumpeted thousand year reign of the Third Reich and all the other forerunners created upon a lie."

Jack MacAndrew writes from Prince Edward Island

1. I am convinced it is crumbling from within
but in its death struggle, I sadly fear, it may destroy millions upon millions of innocents, around the world and here in the good 'ol US of A.

6. I'm not sure I can agree with the term "allowed"
I suppose, if being overrun by the enemy forces because all the normal resources that have been put in place to try to maintain some sort of control over a rogue political power have been seized by that rogue constitutes "allowed," then, yes.
In spite of all the damage this bunch of berserkers has already done, they've barely begun.
It the face of the possibility that they may be driven from office and have to confront the prospect of public censure at a minimum, and charges of high crimes favored by many, their "death throes" may well include a declaration of martial law, in an attempt to save their sorry asses. Such a move on their part could well mean armed uprisings and some forms of terrorism right here. The further contemplation of such consequences is almost too horrible to accept, but we will have to look at these options squarely, clear minded, or the good people lose...again.
It may well be a boon to all us citizens that these spendthrifts have emasculated the military, leaving them fewer resources for enforcing such punitive measures. The least we can expect is the continued erosion of human rights and liberties, timed to be one step ahead of the "Resistance" - us.
Should democracy survive, we must enact far more powerful statutes to severely limit the power of government. Hopefully, there will be enough outrage to accomplish the necessary housecleaning.

3. It will come down as every thing does. It is the harm he will do----
until he comes down. Nothing is ever going to change things changing. That I am sure of.

4. perhaps it's the pessimist in me but
if we thought his seizing power by vote manipulation was bad--we haven't seen anything yet. these people cannot afford to lose power, I don't think they can afford to leave office unless they know for sure that their corrupt practices will continue. They are guilty of theft, treason, high crimes, war mongering, and if you are a mihop-er even murder. If not in power, they face prison (from my keypad to God's ear.)
