Today's Snark Attacks from the Seattle P-I -- good ones
A few months ago, the P-I started a "Saturday Spin" page which among other things (including a Ted Rall cartoon), there are short snark attacks submitted by members of the editorial board. Here are a couple from today:

Snark Attack

This bulletin will crush certain egos inflated by the fact that the P-I is one of a select group of regional papers that members of the White House staff read regularly: The president "rarely" reads stories, only "glanc at the headlines just to kind of a flavor for what's moving." While Bush "respects the media," he says he understands "that a lot of times there's opinions mixed in with the news." Oh, really? We hadn't noticed. (Not that we're so deluded as to think he reads editorials, either.)

-- Kimberly Mills

In response to Sen. Ted Kennedy's accusation that the Iraq war was a fraud "made up in Texas," Texas Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison declared: "Sometimes I think, when I hear people talking, that they have forgotten that America was attacked," suggesting that the senator has forgotten that America was not attacked by Iraq.

-- Thomas Shapley

Rummy of the week: Writing in The Washington Post, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said, "(T)o help the Iraqis succeed, we need some humility." Maybe he is thinking about resigning.

-- Joe Copeland
