Time for some more decontorsion of Bush Speak
Time for some more decontorsion of Bush Speak

My head is hurting again after hearing the latest from dim son. In the smattering of words that he spewed at Glen Eagles he made the following bizarre claims:

1. That he was there to help alleviate world poverty!
Truth: Isn't this the same Bush who has been fighting tooth and nail to not fund poverty programs at home and abroad? The list is too long to even go into it. How dare he claim to be a champion of the wretched of the earth when it is his policies that are grinding people even further into the dirt. What a hypocrite!

2. That he was there in Scotland to help rid the world of the pandemic of AIDS!
Truth: Bush and his Republican cronies have worked for years to keep funding for AIDS research and prevention at a minimum. Their draconian policies on family planning have only spread the pandemic in a heartless, cold attempt to shove their ideology down the throats of the rest of the world.

3. That he was in Scotland to work to build a clean environment.
Truth: Can we say global warming, mercury in the air, pigheaded resistance to alternative energy, destruction of the forests, the oceans, the rivers etc. and don't forget the polar bears.

Bush then goes on to talk about how deeply he cares about human rights and human liberty. Are we talking about the same planet?
Truth: Bush is using a terrible tragedy to try to brag about what a wonderful man he is and how much he cares for human rights and human liberty. Give me our break! How much did he care for the rights of the Iraqis that he bombed to smithereens? How much does he care about the ongoing torture and death squads paid for by US tax dollars around the world. And liberty... remember the Patriot Act, sneak and peek searches, and of habeas corpus, and the right to wiretap and search you without your knowledge?

Bush ends his speech with stirring words about an ideology of hope and compassion. I just wish he meant it. I am sick of his lies and sick of him using the suffering of others to engrandize himself. He has no shame!

1. cat mom, if what you say is true, the neocon's entire agenda is a big lie,
one big lie after another and I'm betting no one will be able to de-construct even one of your decontortions. Keep up this fine public service for the Republic you might help save just might be our own.

2. indepat, I think you've got it!
His speech was just begging for a decontorsion. I don't think that even Orwell foresaw this level of boldface lying. I will have to remember your line "the Republic use save just might be our own". That's a good one is what you are doing to!

3. Excellent points
I also was gagging on the rank hypocrisy of his statement. I think he was just mindlessly echoing Tony Blair, who actually is fighting for these causes.

7. Now that explanation actually makes some sense! Bush is used to
parroting what he is told. Since Blair is so outspoken and such a steamroller of the speaker, Bush might have accidentally of sort some of Blair's talking points. Ah! and to think that I thought that it was just Bush's hypocrisy and grasping at a tragedy to try to make himself look good. Actually, I think my theory is more logical, but I appreciate your take on it to.
