3. Bravo, Arianna....
Loved her last book, love her blogs

Someday, maybe the Chinese, after becoming the new world superpower, will use the U.S. as "flypaper" and fight the terrorists in Omaha instead of Beijing!

4. Yeah this was always a nonsensical theory
Besides the hypcricy of "supporting the troops" while using them as bait.

5. Bush has gotten a lot of mileage out of black-or-white fallacies.
Perhaps Bush really thinks in black-or-white terms. It is one of the hallmarks of a truly stupid person.

Moral ambiguity is the way of world. Deal with it. Many of us are quite aware that we don't need to be either with the yuppie fascists or with the Islamo-fascists. Anybody should be able to accept the need to take down Osama and the al Qaida network because it is a direct threat to our safety and well being.

That doesn't mean that Osama isn't appealing to people with legitimate grievances. If he were just uttering nonsense, he would never be able to have persuaded nineteen people to hijack passenger jets and crash them, kamikaze-style, into large office buildings. We need to deal with our safety and redress their grievances both. Mr. Bush would have us believe that we cannot, that to show concern for their grievances is to sympathize with them.

Nor does it mean that there can be only one nation that can lead the fight against terrorism or only one man who can lead that nation, certainly not if that man less resembles Abraham Lincoln or Winston Churchill than he resembles the hapless subject of a stupid crook story.

Like many in the dark days after September 11, I was willing to allow Mr. Bush time to see what he could do; he gained his power by fraud and manipulation, but he still had it. In Molly Ivins' words, he was the only president we had. It took very little time for Mr. Bush to demonstrate that he was not interested in fighting an honest battle against those who murdered 3000 Americans. He was interested in designing an endless war for the purposes of grabbing power and circumventing all law, both constitutional and international. He sought not the safety of the American people, but empire.

Mr. Bush, partly because of his maniacal ambitions and partly because of his monumental incompetence, is the most dangerous man in the world. To have such a man in control of what is relatively history's most powerful military force truly frightening.

The safety of this nation and the entire world require that Mr. Bush be impeached and he and his entire regime removed from power. Only after that can we deal properly with any threat posed by terrorists.
