Watching ABCNews This Morning (Troop Loss)... |
|
...well, channel-surfed over it, really. But the story caught my attention. It was about active-duty members planning on getting out of the service as soon as possible.
One, who's been there and back again: "It's hell on my family, my job...my whole life."
Another one--and this was a little weird--said, after the voice-over announcer mentioned "some believe it's time for other Americans to step up to the task:"
"If you don't want your children doin' this...well...shame on you. Go move somewhere else."
It was as if, mid-sentence, he realized what his COs would do to him if he spoke his mind. Or was he ranting at the Young College Chickenhawks, a walking advertisement for OYE? Or was he really telling everyone it was their children's God-given duty to fight'n'die for PNAC's greater glory?
Maybe I just need sleep. Maybe my head's been in the Spin Machine so long, I no longer understand what not dizzy is.
But if we can't get new recruits, and the actives start leaving in droves...I know where that leaves PNAC--but where does it leave our legitimate national defense?

2. I saw that guy on CBS news last night. |

He just seemed kind of dopey to me.
I think he said "If you don't want your children defending our country, shame on you, go move somewhere else." Because I remember talking back to the teevee that fighting in IRaq is not defending our country.

what sounds to me like how many of the troops might be feeling; abandoned and left to deal with the Iraq mess without more soldiers coming, without the support of the rah rah part of American supporters who can only cheerlead but won't put theirs or their loved ones lives on the line....
he wasn't out of line, a refreshing 'honest' answer from a combat soldier, neither pro nor anti...reflects their reality in Iraq.
my opinion. military family.
