Newsweek - "Matt Cooper's Source" - Interesting comment
From this article:

"The leak was first reported by columnist Robert Novak on July 14, 2003. Novak apparently made some arrangement with the prosecutor, but Fitzgerald continued to press other reporters for their sources, possibly to show a pattern (to prove intent) or to make a perjury case. (It is illegal to knowingly identify an undercover CIA officer.)"

Now my big question has always been, why did Cooper and Miller get all the heat and not (scumbag) Novak? Why should Novak be able to "make some arrangement"?

1. Maybe the other two didn't even try
to make arrangements. Just defied any attempt to testify. Novak testified. Apparently Fitz needed the testimony from the other two to verify or refute other testimony he already had.

2. Novaks testimony undoubtedly layed out the framework
for the administrations defense.
Cooper and Miller have as yet not rolled over.
Coopers call from his source must have given him the proper talking points.

3. I tried to go here once...
...but was swatted like a fly. I came home from work later, and thought for a second that we had a very prolific member called Name removed.

I believe we'll find that Novak sang like a bird, and Fitzgerald is building the case around that.

4. Novak squealed
And fast....

He is a spineless, pseudo, reporter who realized that his ass was on the line. He decided that he wasn't going to take a fall for Rove, and he talked.

No doubt about it. They went after Cooper and Miller hard because they had additional information or could be used for triangulation.

5. Novak probably sang like a canary........
probably never even considered being loyal to his source. I can't blame him considering the source, but writing the article in the first place was a sickening, traitorous think to do. Novak deserves to be in prison as well, but he'd rat out his own wife to save his miserable skin. There is no honor among thieves.......and traitors.
Novak is a yellow, traitorous douche-bag.

6. i wonder:
is it possible that Novak is silent because he thinks he will be protected by the administration which advised him to leak in the first place? because if so, he's an even bigger ass than i imagined. however, i tend to agree with others here---Novak probably gave it all up because he knew he'd go to jail if he didn't.

'cause in the end it's all about him.
